i dont think you could do it,surely the tolerances are too slight. 1/2" is too close to 9/16" the thickness on the wall of the bush (thats what they are called) would be too thin to thread on the inside and the outside. :-\

i imagine a helicoil would work, but would it stand up to a jolly good thrashing?

Great idea but as a machinist i can safley say you cant do it. The pitch and depths of thread would clash giving weak spots no more than 0.2mm thick. as for a helicoil i havent got a clue but would imagine they wouldnt hold up to much force.

helicoil just means you cut a deeper thread and then screw in a steel spring (sort of) into it. Its great for putting a steel thread into ally but cos you have to cut it deeper in the first place they wouldnt help this problem.

i know but you could put an oversize helicoil that fits into a 9/16ths thread and may take it to 1/2 sod it get em migged in ;D

Ah, I see. Good idea. Are the threads the same pitch?

Daz... stick to freshly skinned bulls heads... retapping threads is not your strong point ;D

what about these ?

only $45

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/opc.html#pedal

thats the wrong way round but tuther way should be as achievable but the extra length = extra leverage so not ideal for heavy use id imagine,

but strippin threads....aaaah now thats a speciality :daumenhoch: ::)

can i also point out that i dont need any of these adapters, i was just curious as had thought about em in the past n may come in useful one day
