Although I live in South Yorkshire I spent loads of time up in Newcastle and South Shields as a kid. My Mam's from Newcastle and my Grandma used to live on Marsden Drive on the Marsden Estate just up from the Grotto. I still come up to work and see family and meet up with Dave Young for a beer or a wobble. I'll be up at some point in the next few weeks so I'll be hooking up with Mr Young and we'll probably do a bit of riding, either that or beer and curry

Met Dave a few times as a kid at Kawasaki Bike Shop on Westgate Road think he had some sponsorship deal with them BITD.

It's mad mate, I've got a Scouse Dad to Scottish parents and a Geordie Mam to Irish parents. My mother-in-law is also from Roker so you can imagine when there's a big family get-to-gether there's usually some fighting

Should get yourself over for a look, its still there albeit its just single track now. Went round on me mountain bike not long ago

Aye me and suts89 had a ride round the old track on our mtbs last year for old times sake..bit over grown and not as big.. Table tops goneZzz You got nowt better to do with ya time offshore like suts?

When ya back so we can get out?? God I wish conways was still like the old one we remember..Gary prossers a legend in early bmxing and not so much on the doors once he discovered roids... Haha.. Threw me out a few bars BITD..
We should all meet up in the summer..

Westoe road was hornsbys Raleigh dealer btw.. Got my Raleigh budgie and grifter from there late 70s

Always remember the journey's to shields amongst others,I live in Consett and bitd myself and a few mates would have a road trip with our Northern bus express Day pass,We would take the bikes to bits ,chuck them in bin bags so we could get them on the bus and head off down to Newcastle,usually hit Westgate rd first and spend ages in Kaw/Newcastle and riding around the city centre and then head further up to another bike shop just past the general hospital,can't remember the name now.Later wrap the bikes up again,jump the metro barrier and head down to Shields,remember Conways pretty well,but don't remember riding shields very much,but those little road trips when we were youngins were the best.

got my first vans from conways, paul with the white hair served me
he was still in the new shop in the 90's. think june was the
last to go but she still had time to sell me some redline flights
for £40 before she left
