GT Pro not ticking the boxes
« on: February 20, 2009, 02:28 PM »

I am doing this GT Pro but not sure on it as it aint ticking the right boxes, so i thought i would see what you lot think with your critical eye's  :-\ ( I dont mean that in a sarcastic way)

the detailing on the head set and seat clamp I am going to re do in yellow rather than the red to bring the decals and pad set together a bit more.

your thoughts please  :daumenhoch:

Its a bit dusty as i have just took it of the wall

Cheers all

Steve  :daumenhoch:

Steve hi mate  :). I do like it, really do... but if I was my bike on show here, then i'd change the tyres, add some black in there somewhere also to break it up colourwise. Perhaps the mallet stem isn't right? Try a Red suntour stem then the stem pad might look better or expose the mallet stem and remove the stem pad? Also where are the GT Round decals?

thats a nice bike.

i'd lost the stem for a tufneck, but thats about it ???

also, get your (red ame?) grips on it,

and a chain..with red links...the extra colour on the crain wmay havefset all that chrome around the crank area quite nicely.

it will look a different bike again with the above subtle changes/additions :daumenhoch:

Cracking looking build Steve, if I were to change anything it would be the stem, Suntour MS1100 Powerstem would look great and maybe the tyres to black skinwalls.  I'd also get a shim for the seat post or get a larger diameter seatpost, nowt wrong as such with what you've got but it would annoy me just looking at a seatclamp that's tightened as tight as that one and if you're not careful you could crack the frame pulling the seat tube in so much  :daumenhoch:

Singing from the same hymn sheet, i do and it seems a shame not to use the one that came with the crank as it fits better.

thanks all for the comments so far, i am going to have a proper re read through them and come with what i am going to do

cheers steve :daumenhoch:

:smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: Nice bike.

To improve i reckon a red head set, grips and seat clamp mate. Try and get ealry bubble logo Ame's as you have spent the money getting the era correct tyres so you may aswell get it right. Also lose the pedals for something less over powering. Not SX's though!

Love the tyres and cranks too.  :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Its a 85 F&F,

Here are some pics i did this afternoon after putting on the grips, pedals, chain and putting the original chain wheel back on the crank nearly forgot i have chucked on a haro group 1 stem just to see if it makes a diff as i think you cant beat a tuff neck as peeps have said. i am going to put some DX's on her when i have finished re finishing them.

Excuse the chain i cant find my Chane think to lengthen it:
