Baring in mind a few members have had surgeries/brain issues Ratty/Harris, following stacks Rombloke maybe we could support something like that  :daumenhoch:  Really like Sharons idea too  :daumenhoch:

Think a poll on the charity will be a good idea though x

How about Great Ormond Street Hospital.

http://www.gosh.org/

I like the idea of helping kids as we all still love riding our kids bikes.  :daumenhoch:

So be it this or the Whizz Kidz charity then I'm all for it.

Another thing me and Rob disscussed was the t-shirts we all wore. It really helped give us a group identity last year and it looked fantastic all riding as a group. It really helped us stand out during the freewheel sections as well. The main idea of the t-shirts though is to help raise additional funds for our chosen charity.

one of the best local charities is Little Havens, who do so much for terminally ill children

http://www.littlehavens.org.uk/

They are based in Essex,

Quote
Little Havens Children's Hospice is a local charity which relies on the generosity of the public. Supporters can help in many different ways, either through donations of money, gifts or time.

Quote
Did you know?

Little Havens costs £2.3 million a year to run

81% of our funding comes from charitable donations

Our Registered Charity Number is 1022119

Little Havens is part of Havens Hospices

Little Havens covers the whole of Essex and parts of London

It costs £14.50 an hour to care for a child within our In-Patient Unit

Our Appeals and Administration main contact number is 01702 220350

Little Havens has a Home-Respite Service offering care for children in their own home

All media enquiries need to be directed to Amy Dearing on 01702 220301

It is estimated that over 20,000 families across the UK have a child with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness

Little Havens care and services are offered to families free of charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

There are 41 children's hospices across the UK

Little Havens was the 13th children's hospice to be opened in the UK

Last year 1 in 5 children were able to be cared for thanks to Gifts in people's Wills

Really up for London ride again  :) :)       Kids charity has got to be the way to go  :daumenhoch:

My Mrs and nippers loved the ride last year , and I reckon a load of   "  New school  "  riders would turn up if promoted BMX Talk also  ... But as Sharon says  Please dont  clash with Brits Weekend   19-20th Sep ...

I say get as many BMXers  as poss along , old school /new school ..      Remember the commentator , giving us a name check last  year on the route  ? ..      Imagine  3 times the amount of BMX Hooligans flying by  ;D  ...    Raising a load of cash too !

I am sure  as a charity event it could feature on South region BMX Site , and I bet Dave lane would promote in Fast lane mag etc

i have to say that working in the NHS i know just how much The Great Ormand ST hospital gets each year from it's diferent sources, so i'd much rather go for one of the smaller charities that lots of people normally over look.

also going on what Zippy said, the T shirts worked a treat last year helping us really stand out and letting everyone know who we were collecting for......i managed to get a very good deal from MacMillan last year but i've not found a charity yet willing to let us have T shirts at the same price as MacMillan  :-\

i shall do some more digging about and try and see what we can get  :daumenhoch:

The charity i'd like to nominate is Rainbows childrens Hospice........hey we could even do our own tie dye T shirts  ;D

That's a cracking charity Matt.  just had a good look over their web site....brings tear to the eye mate  :'(

Crooch

the problem with doing RAD charity T's is the cost.....they cost about £12 to get made (Makmarc did the last ones) so we sold them at £20 P&P to raise some funds for the charity....but i think we only managed to sell about 20 odd T's and Marc went to so much effort and got a huge amount of grief over them it just didn't seem worth it.

fair enough....

I do know someone who sells blanks - might be able to source some at about what you paid last year - just depends on how much they cost to get printed...

Really looking forward to this again - a great way to see all the sights in London.  Hopefully it won't clash with the Brits

With regards to the Tees Vistaprint do white double side printed Tees for about £7 each or there is this one in Kent http://www.stitchemandprintem.co.uk/printing.html or this one in Essex http://t-machine.co.uk/just-printing/ which are quite reasonable.

those T shirt places look cool Caz....thanks!  :daumenhoch:

as for clashing with the brits?  well they haven't released the London Freewheel date yet but like i said, last year it was on 21st September.
although it's not carved in stone that we have to do it on the same day.....but it was great fun tagging alone with that on the day.

also......and i am in no way telling you how to vote.....but like i said before, i work in the NHS and GOSH does get shed loads of money so do think of the smaller charities as well  :daumenhoch:
