why no m/s or n/s in the b.o.t.m?
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:19 PM »
not trying to be an arse for a change,
just want to know why mid-school and new-school are not allowed?

are they any less credible than the old-school?
for instance that t1 i just built is streets ahead of some of the old school bikes i've seen cobbled together on there!
and the fact that it was owned by a team rider and is 1-of-1 ever built means its vastly more important too,
and thats just ONE example,

ALSO with only the b.o.t.m winners being able to enter means that a mid/new school bike can never win b.o.t.y!!

just seems a silly rule tbh,

whats wrong with us?
are we less somehow credible because of the year our bikes were built?

its not like the comp will get suddenly flooded with entries is it? :LolLolLolLol:

we'd all like to know why?

To be honest Joe, I can't see a problem in running it, however think it would need to go side by side rather all in one !

The site is 'home to old school' and to put a new build next to say a burner would be a tad odd !

Why don't we look into running it next year !

maybe i got mixed up about the m/s pickles, for the life of me i cant remember ever seeing one,

tbh idont think there'd be enough entries every month to run a separate category, if there is i'll organize it so it wouldnt be any extra work,

could the monthly winners be entered into the b.o.t.y inorder to maintain its high status?

its no biggy tbh, its just always perplexed me!

it'd be funny though if only one m/s bike got entered every month and all the mid-scoolers voted for it! :LolLolLolLol:
we'd win every month! :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

I think the cut off point is;  1" threaded bikes only.  No 1 1/8"   Ive never seen a 1 1/8"  entered

My Hawk was entered and it is a 1 1/8".

I too entered my mid Dirtbike in botm, and it received a respectable "nil point" (said in a cheesy eurovision accent)

Its covered!  Who would have known!?

Because I listed it in the parts rundown!!

There has never been a cut off point at 1" threaded I have been on this site a long time and there were never any rules like that implemented.

Im not saying it was a rule, I thought it was just the accepted done thing.

I thought that was the whole OS racing thing Glen?  If not then I slipped that Hawk in under the radar didn't I?  ;)

so what are the concise rules for the o/s b.o.t.m?

am i right in thinking mid-school bike are ok but not new?

can we have the separate categories for the m/s and n/s b.o.t.y and see how it goes this year and work something out for 2011?

i dont mind doing them but will it be possible to post in the actual b.o.t.m section?

It's all bmx isn't it. Wether it's old, mid or new I think a quality build will shine through.

Let them all out to play I say.  :daumenhoch:

I think it should be in 2 categories.

OS 1" threaded
Mid and new 1 1/8"

I think that's cool

Keep it  down to 2 categories and it should keep ticking over nicely

and if it justifies 3 categories at a later date , then ,,, even better  :daumenhoch:

Deffo a good idea to introduce the Mid/ New BOTM  :daumenhoch:

I think it should be in 2 categories.

OS 1" threaded
Mid and new 1 1/8"

I think we can run this !

When it comes to BOTY 2009, we will have categries of

O/S Race 20"
O/S Race Cruiser
Freestyle
Mini

&

Mid School
New School

Sound ok

 :daumenhoch:

Next year for 2010, we can look at the same format as 2009, however a seperate part for N/S  :daumenhoch:

Paul, I think when Stodgy first set up BOTM it was only for Old School, however I could be wrong ! New School BOTM evolved in the New School Freestyle section later !

As said above we can run it all next year  :4_17_5:
