Good to see you Tobe.

It’s always amazing when you finally find a part you’ve been searching for.

Now three will show up at once lmao.

My saddle arrived. I’ll go down and get it shortly. It’s 140cm wide so will suit my sitting up riding position best. IE I’ll be sitting on it rather than if being jammed in my arse lol.

OK so annoyingly the seat post arrived first. Even though I ordered it three days after the bars and stem.

It's absolutely beautiful. The new seat is a Fizik. Carbon rails.

Absolutely no doubt on Chinese welds tbh.

The seat. Very short. So it won't go up my bum when I get on.

So new vs newer. Carbon post with Ti railed seat = 475g. Ti post with carbon railed seat = 450g.

I also had to order these as I think the new stem will need at least one.

And these. Both have arrived, with the last of the Ti bits coming before Tues.

Yeah it’s amazing.

The seat though is the worst I have ever sat on in my life.

I’ve now caved and bought a gel saddle.

The bars and stem and etc are all fitted. Minor tweaks needed but yeah. That saddle though? Crikey.

Pics inbound soon.

Yeah now I can see why the dude bought a Canyon and immediately removed that seat. God, it is truly awful. I barely even managed a 20 second test sit to see if it was the correct height.

Any way, I also bought some new riding shoes. These have two stipulations. One, flat. Pedals hate things like Yeezy Boost. Two, grippy. Shins hate pedal bodies lmao.

I looked in the usual places and was coming in around £60. This is about normal but I am a tight ass. So, I decided to go off piste and went to TK Maxx. I sas some I liked the look of. Didn't look very closely as they met the two stipulations, so I ordered them, having never heard of them before.

Just to verify.

So I then went looking for them on Youtube. I found them. Apparently they were a big Brazilian based skate shoe company who just went bust. I also verified that yeah, that was the RRP. I can now see why. Check this out.

They are absolutely gorgeous. I also did not have to order them in a nasty gaudy colour to save the money either  :LolLolLolLol:

OK so with shoes sorted (my Vans are now 9 years old and tatty and my Doomed are wrecked) I moved onto buying the final boss saddle. Went away from brands like Selle Italia and etc. IE, the razor blade makers. I then bought this. Selle Royal gel Ti.

Cost me 43 quid. Does have Ti rails, but will still be heavy. That said I am now too old to ride around on blades. The extra 300g or so will be well worth it

:LolLolLolLol:

Next up one extremely expensive helmet. Mine is now 12 years old and whilst never bashed or crashed I ain't stupid. Foam and etc has a shelf life and you should never chance it on things that save your life. It's also another area I will never skimp on given it could literally mean your life. I currently have a Bontrager and it too was pretty expensive. I would rather put my life on something I know will perform, rather than a Chinese risk.

I didn't even blow up the thumbnail pic lol. At that price I couldn't say no.

So here she is. Done and finished.

At a total cost of £1,752. Given the frame RRP was £1,799 plus VAT? I think I did well.

The forum has not loaded in days. Main page fine, just the forum.

So I wanted a helmet with a visor so I didn’t have to wear sun glasses.

I found one made by a French company for £140 on sale half price. Problem was by the time I got my tax refund from the council it sold out in medium and the next one up was £170. It had lights in, which I don’t need. Bugger.

Well it actually turned out to be a result. I then found a Oakley ARO7 ICE for £129 down from £290. And it’s bloody gorgeous!

It arrived today. I’ve also bought a Fidlock water bottle and holder and some Ergotron grips on sale for grip shift. The clear ones didn’t look how I tonight they would.

I recently purchased a frame set bundle from a French eBay seller. It’s a Motobecane MX15, I’ve been looking for one for quite a few years now. It’s not the 3 holed gusset but apparently the Tange teardrop gusset version. It’s still in transit and yet to arrive. It’s a bit ratty with heavy corrosion on the drive side chainstay, but I’ve got it. As some may know, I’ve been putting together the Shimano 2 speed set up and recently found the last piece of the puzzle, the front derailleur. This was spec on Mx15’s, it will be used. So the timing of the frame set bundle popping up for sale was perfect. The bundle consists of original frame, forks, seat collar and bars, the stem looks right but info is hard to come by on these old birds. I have original frame and bar pads to use, it will be a miracle if I ever find the matching stem pad. Here’s a few pics of the bundle. I also bought a nice blue Shimano Tourney rear brake that will be used. I took a chance on some blue Victor rat trap pedals too, there is a bit of play and it turns out they are not serviceable like I’d hoped. Ah well.

Nice one! :daumenhoch:

Are you going to leave the frame as it is or restore/refinish it?

Hi Mick, it will be cleaned up as best I can and then built. Most parts are in very survivor condition, so they should suit the condition of the bundle. Red frame decals and blue components, including the Shimano set up, oh la la.

Glad to hear it! I know it’s your bike and you can do whatever you like with it, etc, etc, but the frame doesn’t look too bad in the pics and “patina” trumps refinished for this ol’ dog. :daumenhoch:

I still like it!! :daumenhoch:

I don't suppose you're looking for a genuine old school padset with matching colourway and patina??

Yes, the only pad I really need is the one pictured. It’s more of a plastic material rather than vinyl. Don’t tease me man :LolLolLolLol:
