X Games Japan 2026
« on: May 24, 2026, 07:57 AM »
This year’s X Games Japan are being held in Chiba, near Tokyo which, conveniently for me, is not far from where I’ve just moved to. It’s also the second round of the new league format, so thought that I should check it out in person! :daumenhoch:

The Games are on the weekend of the 4th/5th July, with most of the BMX events on the Saturday, so that’s the day I’ve just bought a ticket for. Can’t wait for it and will post a report thereafter. In the meantime, here's the preview vid:-

Ok riders, random start. Riders ready, watch the gate old gaijin make a fool of himself! :D

So last weekend I made it to my first X-Games. I caught three of the BMX finals, men’s street, women’s park and men’s park. Men’s street was the one I really wanted to see and it didn’t disappoint. Seeing some of the big dogs up close was so rad. Being the first event of the day, the crowd wasn’t much to write home about, either from a noise or size point of view but on the plus side, I could get a decent view from the front of the standing area. :daumenhoch:

Next up was women’s park. I didn’t really know what to expect but that was also great to watch with a Japanese rider winning with a crowd-pleasing final run. Last up was the men’s park and man, that was insane. Seeing the tricks done live rather than watching on screen was simply unbelievable and just blew my mind. :D

Overall, it was a great day. I know there’s some negativity about the league format and some of the sponsors but having never been to a big freestyle event before, let alone an international one, I loved seeing some of the best riders in the world strutting their stuff and would definitely go again given the chance.

Below are a few links to some of the medal-winning runs.
