freestyle bmx on tv
theRuler:
do you remember the first freestyle bmx you saw on tv?
for me, it was andy preston, on white quad with red tuffs.
some saturday morning show, he was indoors on a trick ramp and qp.
i video'd and must have watched it 1000 times. he was riding to some old dire straits music.
the rollback 540 was so dope!!! this was summer 1983
anyone got that gem on tape still?
daze:
believe it or not, andy preston and mike pardon used to do "classes" on 1/4's and kickers in moss side sports centre of all places in the early 80's. maybe it was there? never remember them being filmed tho tbh.
and i never did learn owt!!
daz bmx it!:
Hey Ruler,I remember that well, had it on a tape that i wore out cos i watched it so much, think it was filmed in a leisure centre too, little bit of slow-mo camera work also ;) Ah, the memories.......
theRuler:
yeh slow mo that was it
he did this one handed kickturn that was so dope (but he dabbed on the way out)
that was 22 years ago. where's AP now? is he here?
TwoBobRob:
As it happens, I was riding motorbikes with a mate of mine up in Wigan the other week and we got on to the subject of BMX, he used to ride very early on and is mates with Mike Pardon - still sees him regularly. I'm pretty sure he said he saw Andy P from time to time also. Anyways, I showed him the RADBMX site and he had a browse, so they may turn up here sometime ;)
On a side note, the man in question is Tony Law. Ring any bells with anyone?
