I’m running with a different number plate this year. The Crupi came with a Box plate, which fits perfectly with the Box Maximus bars. Chuffed to bits with the bike, I decided to get a fancy-looking, custom-made graphic from Danger UK, which had the logos for all the bike parts, as well as my name, number and a Union Jack, as seen below. However, my on-track performances haven’t been so flashy and it may sound a bit stupid but I felt a bit of a fraud with that plate! So with a new race number for 2018, I decided to change things up this season and go for something more low-key and better-matched to my riding. Although the Box plate is cool, I also fancied something a little older and initially picked up a NOS Lizard Skins plate, as pictured. However, I then saw a used but cool-as-fook UGP plate which I couldn’t pass up, particularly as a colleague was visiting his folks in the States and could bring it back for me in his suitcase! Pics of how it looked when I got it are below, but it doesn’t look like that now! Part 2 to follow!! :daumenhoch:

Cool plates :coolsmiley: :daumenhoch:

So with the plate decided, the next thing I wanted to do was sticker-bomb the back of it. I’d seen a few sticker-bombed things I’ve really liked and thought that would add to the less-flashy look I was after. I had a trial run on the back of the Box plate, using up old BMX Museum stickers that I’d picked up over the years. Then it was time for the UGP. Again, I used some Museum stickers plus some others including parts of the ones salvaged from the front of the plate and of course, some Union Jack action to keep the flag flying over this side of the world. The result is below. :daumenhoch:

I wont give you any bad tips, nor should I go take a photo of some stirring that happened a while ago,
But running Roman Numerals as a number was a good giggle.
Commentators got confused (couldn't figure it out quick enough),
Gate Check person had to get an interpretor ;D
Chief Commisaire just looked and went "you made that to comply with the rulebook yeah?" and shrugged it off.
Thats just a start to the trouble making.

comentary went ................."i vee i i vee em cee em em gets the holeshot followed by i i ex i i vee ............." " oh they've finished " :LolLolLolLol:

Thanks Nick!

Now I have stickers coming out of my ears, I did the only sensible thing I could think of and....... bought some more plates! :D
-
& while I wait for those to arrive from the States, I stickered up the Lizard Skins plate with a bunch of RADness!! :daumenhoch:
-
Time to update this thread with some plate action! :D
First off, I bought a cool Knucklebone plate which I'm going to keep in the wings for next year. it came with some Pryme numbers, so I naturally had to sticker my current Pryme plate with a couple of those (cannibalising a 4 to make a 1) to replace the makeshift ones on there. Pics below! :daumenhoch:

Recently spotted and couldn't resist picking these up on ebay! I think I have a problem!! :crazy2:

Cool plates 8)

I need that UGP plate in my life!
-
It's a sweet plate for sure - will keep you in mind should I move it on, though I may well use it this year. :daumenhoch:
In the meantime, I've just bought this one on the bay. There's some interesting background to it, but I'll wait until I actually get my hands on it before revealing more. :D

So this ^^^ arrived in the post this week. Sold by a French rider in Peru to a British guy in Japan - globalisation at its finest! :D
As you can see from the pics, it was used in Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2016 South American race series and will now see service over here. Since I'm no. 8 in one of the series I've registered for this year, I simply removed numbers 3 and 1 - sorted! The 8 is not completely straight but I can live with that as it's the perfect size. :daumenhoch:
-
Needed a break from grading yesterday, so sticker-bombed the back of the UGP plate I'm using for the Niigata race series. What can I say - I was bored! :daumenhoch:
-
Another season, another used, sticker-bombed race plate! I turned this painted and subsequently faded and yellowed #99 into a #9 for one of the series I'm registered for. It ain't pretty but neither is my riding! :daumenhoch:
-
More race plates landed on my doorstep this week. Two very cool UGP plates and a Box plate with a custom decal sheet. :coolsmiley:

My 2023 race plates for the two series I've entered. :daumenhoch:

Cheers mate! I picked it up from the Museum a few years ago, so thought it was about time to sticker-bomb and race it! :daumenhoch:
-
I got bored the other day, so got the stickers out again! :daumenhoch:
