Post by: oldschoolace on January 21, 2014, 10:20 PM
Eh up lads, dont do spokes as a rule but have found these going cheap. They are pro class aren't they?

That's a 2nd gen blue and green label comp 3, if the other one too and they are both in pretty decent nick they could be worth a few quid on their own.

Sorry for asking a daft question...

but are there different types of Pro Class Rims ???

Is CMC the same ???

I'm after a set which would have been on a Racing AP - 1984/1985...

Thanks...

Yes mate.

You have:-

CNC drilled steel chromed rims,

Drilled alloy chromed rims,

Drilled alloy polished rims,

Drilled alloy hard anodised rims

Non drilled hard anodised rims

There may be more but these I know of  :)

Clint, Is there an Araya stamp underneath one of the holes either side of the innertube valve ? If so they're drilled Araya's.  If not they could be pro class or drilled araya copies.  :daumenhoch:
I think.   ???

Don't know mate that pic is all I have at the mo. Going to try and get them regardless as they are only £20  :)

Never easy dealing with provincial types though, especially foreign ones wondering why a mad English guy wants to import some old wheels  :LolLolLolLol:

I am guessing at these Clint but, I would say they are '84 - '85 Pro Class rims off a Cali Goose. The rims will be factory drilled unstamped Araya rims and the hubs will be SR/Suzue looseball hubs   :daumenhoch:

Is this a Raleigh Aero Pro we're talking about?

If so Araya Aeros would have come as standard I doubt you'd have swapped them for CMC pro class as they were the steel ones  :-\

I have the Araya Aero Rims (one is away getting anno'd at present after stripping debacle)...

But some 'Racing' Aero Pros had Pro Class Wheels ... like this...

Wheels on that bike look like polished alloy.

I reckon the actual ones on Andy Ruffell's bike BITD would have been just plain alloy, if you PM Beard1973 on here he might be able to tell you what they were as he know's a bit about Andy Ruffell.

I think that's Jimmyp's Ruffell replica, he's on Raleighburner.com PM him too.
