Right Guys,
We've just had the nod from Roger at BCF that we can run a class again this year at the Brits.
It will be run on the same basis as last year, 25 squid sees you in on this one and ALL monies raised will be donated to this years nominated charity
http://www.make-a-wish.org.uk/ (http://www.make-a-wish.org.uk/)
We will as last year crown an overall British Champion for the Old School.
The event this year is at Peterborough, check their website for track info and details of when you can join in sneaky practise sessions.
http://www.phantomsbmx.ukonline.co.uk/ (http://www.phantomsbmx.ukonline.co.uk/)
The event will be held 23rd/24th August. You will be able to camp trackside for 20.00
RAD BMX have kindly agreed to sponsor the plates for this so big thanks to them.
Please add your names to this thread so that i can collate entries. I will need riders full names and Rad user name. Race numbers will be allocated on the day.
IT WOULD BE FANTASTIC TO SEE SOME OF OUR SCOTTISH/MIDLANDS AND NORTHERN CONTINGENT AT THIS SO GET YOUR NAME DOWN AND HELP THE OLD SCHOOL MAKE A SICK CHILDS WISH COME TRUE :daumenhoch:

I am going, not sure if the powers that be will let me race :-\
Cant wait to meet up with everyone :daumenhoch:
-
Excellent news. I was planning to attend anyway, just for the craic, as I did last year at Burnham. Peterborough was my home club until moving back to Scotland at the back end of last year. Great track, not really old school friendly though :LolLolLolLol: Especially now with all the work Messers Hill and Godden have done to the third straight. Should be awesome though.
I will speak to the Scottish crew on Sunday and see who else is up for coming down.
Marc :daumenhoch:
Put me down anyway plate number 7
-
Simon Barnes
Zippy
I'll run my finishing position from last year please. Number 4.

Double points?? That's a bit unfair to the riders that can't make it?? How will that fit in with the points table. Sorry I just think this is a bit unfair to throw this in at the end??

Debating adding my name to the list but I rode the old P'boro and it almost killed me!! And I'm a few years older now. Will see if I survive two weeks of riding & racing in Cornwall before I commit myself, or have myself committed, but will gladly chuck in a pony to swell the coffers anyway. If I ride it solves the perpetual problem of who comes last - sorted!! Humps
-
zippy by name zippy by nature just read croochs post no time to pm you about it you have put hotel site up already
cheers si for that im all booked up friday to sunday all 4 of us are going now cant wait :daumenhoch:

I'll do old school at the Brits if I can't jump the first straight on my cruiser (cos I'll be getting moto'd in 40+ if I can't jump them).

Put me in for the old school, plate number 254 please :daumenhoch:

Alright, if I have to.

Steve Earl
number 4M (for Midlands, rather than Moaning F&gger Who Always Complains ABout The Track).

Excellent, so glad this got sorted out as it was a fantastic weekend last year, especially peeing off all the serious racers by getting drunk Sat night and making loads of noise!!! Oh how popular the OSS was with anyone who'd camped within a 100m of us :LolLolLolLol:
I'm defo in :daumenhoch:

The lass at Leeds said it was no problem Beardy!!!
So if ya want to race then ya can!!!
-
When we originally looked at this being an official class at the Brits qualification would have been required, now as it's a race for charity that's not required.
I know many have completed the required number of qualifying rounds just in case but that has done their regions the power of good with new blood, finances etc.

Why would you want to make Oldskool Racers unpopular with all the kids and parents that put alot of time, training and expense into qualifying and getting so close to their dream of winning a British Championship?
Sorry, don't get it. Must be getting old(er) and miserable(er)

Tony, sorry didn't word my post very well, we didn't purposely set out to pee off or annoy anyone. Just meant it as we had a great weekend and got very drunk in the process, we aren't setting out to pee people off that's for sure :daumenhoch:
-
I probably never read it properly either then.
It's all good, see you at Burnham.
Where are you all camping? :2funny: ;)
-
I thought you could share a pitch with us Tony as you do the best BBQ's :daumenhoch:
-
Hopefully have a good ol' cook up at Pboro Paul :) (I'll kill something in your honour! 8)
Think we're on take-aways this weekend though... sucks.
We want to go to Empire of Dirt on Friday, but you cant pitch up at Bnhm till 12 pm. so waste of a day.:(
Billy is in Jr Men so doesn't finish till at least 9pm Saturday :(
I've just read we have to leave the site 2 hrs after racing on Sunday :(
Won't have time to fart! ::)
-
You would have thought with it being school holidays they could let us stay another night at Burnham and come home monday.
Matt
-
Tony/Matt - what do you expect from BCF? Service with a smile?! Convenience? :2funny:
Oops, I forgot, the reason I don't post on BMXTALK anymore is because it was making me negative/cynical.
As you were ;)
-
Im not negative or cynical ......... they are all a bunch of usless idiots who are only intrested in our money.
Matt
-
Just i thought we should all know that we are going to have to use side plates at the brits this year ???
-
FCUK IT stick me down for old skool as well :daumenhoch: like mike i'm prob gonna get my arse kicked in 40+ so i might as well make it a double ;D

Do we know if this is running on the Saturday or the Sunday?
If it's Sunday I'm deffo in. (Prob will be there Sat, but no definite plans as yet.)

Not looking very well supported so far but there's a couple of weeks yet. Hoping a few newbies will venture out to keep me company at the back as its a big track and the eyes of the BMX world will be watching me roll in 20 seconds after everyone else - I can feel the embarrasment :-[ Come on guys, let's see some names added and put some money into the coffers of Make-A-Wish. Where's Grumpy?? Humps
-
Dont worry Al, this will be my first race back, and I will have to stroll round with you, so bring a flask and a newspaper :2funny:
-
I wont know if I can go until week before!!
-
I would have liked to have gone but I have opted for RADCHESTER 08 instead.
I was disappointed to go to the Hartlepool National and miss the Novice Night at Creation and then have only 6 riders turn up.
I dont think the Brits will be the same but its a charity event and not a proper class!!
Its all for a good cause though so I hope it has a good turn out!!!
Hopefully next year it will be a proper class and get the recognition it deserves!!
Put on a good show and make sure it gets recorded on the TV so we can all watch it!!! :daumenhoch:
-
Can we add jason harvey to the old skool race as well plate#2. :daumenhoch:
I was talking to him yesterday about it and that the money was for charity :daumenhoch:
-
Can we add jason harvey to the old skool race as well plate#2.
I don't think we get a choice of plates for this.
-
This won't be popular but look at the positives, last place will be wide open. Anyway, after hearing and reading all the stories about P'boro and feeling fcuked after an amble round Hersden yesterday I'm not going to do the OS event at the Brits unless I have a real change of heart just before the event. What with the whole 'OS going National' thing there's little chance I could keep up with you dedicated guys anyway either at the Brits or at any other time so my efforts turn it into a bit of a sideshow. I may have a change of heart and might just be looking at a pre-90 frame to build my bits into for next year but for now I think I'll grab my flags and offer my services at the Brits as a BC-trained official. This doesn't mean that others should feel they can't take part, just that I don't feel that I should. Humps
-
Shut up and get on the gate Alan :LolLolLolLol:

-
Nah just some of his spare parts :daumenhoch:
-
Okay... not been to OR ridden at the Brits before...
What is the format of the racing? and when will the Old School MOTO's and final take place???
Just trying to plan the weekend.
Thanks in advance.

But I hope that everyone will keep to the old school bike rules, 1" headsets and caliper brakes.
Now watch out for the sandbaggers....

I think I've seen on here that Jai won't be at the Brits so the racing is wide open. As far as I'm aware the OS class, being for charity, is open to anyone but best get Nikki or Ratty to confirm as last year Nikki had her two boys out there on NS bikes. If anyone desperately wants to ride but doesn't want to risk their bike then please PM me and you can borrow my Redline (bike-of-many-colours-and sh*te-brakes)as I'm not going to race but can easily chuck it (see that's how I treat the old girl) in the van for you. Any takers?? Humps
-
Doesn't look like we can make it now, i'll sort getting the plates up with someone else :'(

Oh NO!
It'll be such a shame if you can't get there.
Was certain you'd come home British Champ!
-
ive got a bit of a problem it looks doubtfull at the mo about me getting there for the saturday can i get someone to register for me ? or do i have to do it myself ?
was hoping to be up there all weekend but a few things have poped up and we have had to cancel the hotel stay :(
i possibly can get there sat about 7pm with my tent :daumenhoch:
-
Sadly I'll miss this. Can't get time off for MK and The Brits and I wasn't gonna miss MK this year. The title of British Oldschool Champion will be a bit of a travesty what with 3 series champs - Zippy, JT Smooth and myself not in attendance. Makes it even easier for all the sandbaggers! Seriously though, good luck to everyone who's going, stay in one piece, and put on a good show :daumenhoch:
-
Hope I can get in on this, don't feel I did myself justice at MK. Won the hangover comp :idiot2:

Chris i rode masters and OS last year and only had 5 races between each moto, very tiring
-
A riders list thread has just been started!!
Reply to it and I'll add your names to the list.
It'll let you see who you competition is, unless they're keeping it on the down-low!! :daumenhoch:

Jai do you think i should stick to one class instead ? But i dont know which 1 to choose if thats the case ???

Have you ridden masters this year, its quite a fast age group. I went out in the 1/4 last year at Burnham but most of that was down to me not
liking burnhams gate, might be different this year a peterborough. If you just want to enjoy the races then go OS as its a right laugh, plus if sky
is there you get on TV if you make the final ;D ;D
-
I spoke to Nikki last night and as far as I know she`s still coming for the weekend :daumenhoch:
-
Kenny S is now coming with me so add him to the list Nikki
Marc :daumenhoch:
We'll be arriving friday evening

Race numbers will be allocated on the day.
Is this still the case, or should I bring a number plate with my 999 on it?

Thanks to Caroline at BAD BMX the plates are being designed as we speak, with side plates, and all the numbers you awkward lot wanted :LolLolLolLol:

Shame you can't all come up for the craic, recon it'll be a great weekend!
