Title: New School Help Needed!
Post by: That Swan Guy on September 14, 2010, 12:11 PM
Just about to dip my toe into buy new school parts and need some advice.
I need a threadless 1 1/8 INTEGRATED headset which will take a potts mod.
Or does it depend on the type of stem you use?
Is there such a thing out there?

Cheers guys

Nick

The hollow compression bolt depends on if your fork(not your headset) has one as standard or if you are using a starnut. Both are available as an aftermarket part.

The forks belong to a 24" Knight Proformer and are still uncut. They have nothing attached or fitted to them.
I don't have a headset or a stem yet. If it depends on the forks then am I OK to get a threadless 1 1/8 stem of my choice?

So how many bits do I actually need?  :D

Yep,any 1 1 /8 threadless stem will fit and you`ll need a hollow bolt/starnut setup.Just get any 1 1/8 integrated headset and bin the starnut/topcap from that.FSA Impact seems to be the most widely used integrated setup. You might need some headset spacers too, depending on the steerer tube length and these will also allow you raise/lower the stem and ensure correct bearing compression.
