Howdy pard'ner :-*
In my humble opinion…..84 was the year freestyle really started moving forward in the industry, with 3 iconic bikes shaking things up, the Performer and then in the 2nd half of 84 came the Master and Trick Star.
So….for the 85 Hutch catalogue was this early spec Trick Star, when it had finally become commercially available after being pimped around the mags during the prototype stage. I guess it was pushed as their high-end freestyle entry to match the Pro Star. To me that was the classic Trick Star, when freestyle was still taking shape and before all the colours got wacky. Before potts mods, before rotors etc etc.
This is the page from catalogue , but crank spec is wrong for some reason
Anyway….after the Pro Star, I didn’t think I’d go down that route (££) again, but it was on my mind for a couple of years to have a matching pair.
It’s pretty anal build for ‘84 Hutch correctness, things like the early freestyle pedals, the mk 1 bars, the US made donut clamp. The tyres aren’t correct for the catalogue spec, they came just a little later , but they’re the mk1 Mitsuboshi Japan made tyres , not the usual Tai ones. '84 DC cables, daft stuff like that.
I kept thinking it was my last build , I can’t see that happening really, but I reckon it’ll be my last Hutch. Unless something special pops up. Never say never…
Enough gabbing….. :)

Spec is.....
Hutch Trick Star f&f, US made 84.
Hutch Hi-Flyer bars (mk1 ladder, ladder was just the generic name they got called)
Hutch Deep H stem
Tange 125 headset
Hutch grips
Dia Compe MX 1000 rear, 900 front, w /Tech 3’s, 84 stamped cables
Hutch Kashimax Aero
Hutch layback
Hutch donut clamp, US made , non stamped
Araya 7X in chrome
Hutch hubs
Shimano DX freewheel
Hutch Freestyle tyres (earlier type, made by Mitsuboshi in Japan)
Hutch Radkaps
Hutch Aero Speed cranks (real ones…..)
Hutch Aero Speed disc
Takagi 43T chain ring
Izumi black / silver chain
Hutch Pro Freestyle pedals, (early ones from 84, brown bearing)
I think that’s it……..
I owe Juan a thank you, he helped me out with a missing bit and was very generous and kind. My powder man Ben let me use their photo studio gear. So grateful, makes a massive difference. , and of course Del did what Del does. ;)

A quick-ish reply sorry, need to crack on. Not had much rest in weeks, been ridiculous the amount of uni work they've wanted out of me. I look like a zombie at the moment, black eyes and pissing about 'til 4am every night. Spend the last day sorting the bike out though, wanted it out the way, been there for months stagnating
But thanks for the words boyo's , always appreciated and flattered you like it. It took some doing......!
Check this, Juan put it on his home page, looks foxy and professional. It's weird seeing your stuff outside of your house and your own little world.

The Hutch Pro Star is THE best OS bmx bar none.
The Hutch Trickstar is the second (when its built like that)!
That first photo is the best BMX related photo ive ever seen on here, you are one lucky (or rich) bloke. If you wanna swap em both for a used TA and a Rebel Freestyler, let me know.
-
Wow........outstanding.
Loved the Pro Star, loved the Trick Star. To see two of the finest examples of old school side by side, that's somethin' else!

I sent Woody Itson a message, he's an active member on OS and hasn't lost his touch in building awesome bikes. Check out his recent Torkers.
Thought he may like to have a look at the TS. Top bloke and had a nice reply.
Hey Mark, I had a great holiday season, thanks for asking. I too hope your holidays were equally as nice.
Your builds are amazing for sure. Judging by the response, everyone else thinks so too. Then the usual kinda stuff I get in replies from people ..."thanks for the pics of yourself......." "you must work out" "you look pretty strong for a Spen"
Anyhow, truly amazing builds. Thanks for the link to the site. Take care, Woody.
I'm happy , if there's anyone who knows their way around a Trick Star.... :)
-
awsome bikes :daumenhoch: :smitten:
