sorry to disappoint you but it looks like gillingham skatepark is gone forever they've just built a multi-million pound athletics track next to where the skatepark was i dont think there is any chance of you being able to dig it back up. :(

I had many good sessions there with Glyn in 84ish.  The pool there was the best of those built by that company in my opinion. It would be great to see it excavated and restored.

And on balance, with the average cost of a new concrete facility running at about £300k today, I suspect digging this place back out would represent a bargain by comparison.

i always assumed it was totally covered underground. The fact that you can still see the concrete makes this even worse.  I think I remember a petition for this? Did anyone go and meet with the council?  someone needs to meet a  few fat councillors and convince them to fight for this. It would be a great asset.

i went that a few times in 82 or 83,

i thought it has houses built on it.

next time i'm in the area, i'll take a peek, and see whats its like,

Happy Days if they get it all restored again.

Think i'd even help for a day

I used to ride Gillingham in the 80's ( it was my second home :'() and i've been following this campaign for some time. The bowls are definately there and i can honestly say that i've never been so excited in my life (don't tell the wife!!). I live in Essex now but if this phoenix does rise from the ashes, this 40yr old reborn rider will certainly be there :)

Concrete was no smashed it was just filled.   :daumenhoch:

There are some great pictures on there from BITD.

I Used to ride it in the Summers back in the 80's.  Used to stay with Mark Bruce (Moose) from Gravesend or Glyn Lewis's Parents.  I will be back there lile a shot when it is resurrected.  I bet Marcel will still be there jumping up and down the snake.

Moose broke his Jaw in the blue bowl and used to be good friends with Justin Denyer from Hoo.  Justin is the guy that had the ramps from BMX beat down on his farm.  I remember them being orange and Yellow (the ramps).

Yeah! they were like a tequilla sunrise effect. I went over there once with Pete (breakdancer, good at windmills) Matt, Mike watts, Jason Hoad must have been there (my memory's not all it used to be). I remember suffering popout itus on the quarter pipe :'(  and just had to kick turn the hell out of the trick ramp. My nan still lives in Hoo and that farm was just past her house at the end of Stoke road ( i think). Memory overload :crazy2:
