Hi,
Does anyone have or remember a pic of David Slade down a wall ride done a flight of about 5 steps, sure it was from a street jam somewhere in the north. On an orange Performer if my memory is correct.
I managed to save all my mags but think my Mum chucked a lot of posters!
Its a rad pic, so hope someone has a scan
Am sure it was from Invert or Freestyle.
Thanks
Fraser

Can't scan the whole pic, tried in 2 parts but it went all technical. :buck2:

Awesome..thanks so much
What a pic.

awesome,
that hat he is wearing was knitted by my mom for Ged Wells who was friends with Dave, his skate clothing company was called INSANE and was from the isle of wight, that was the only hat that was made with the insane skate man on it.
cool to see it, and that is an awesome wallride

I've said it before and I'll say it again........it always saddens me that Dave, Sid and Shaun Allison never got the credit they deserved for their street riding.
All the plaudits seem to go to Nick Philip and Dave Currey etc. I agree that the aforementioned were pioneers, but so were Dave, Sid and Shaun.
They rocked and should be given more credit for what they did.
There, I've got it out of my system now, lol!

I knew you'd have to chirp up sooner or later on this thread Daz ;) :daumenhoch:
You used to tell me about How Dave was a great street rider , cos I'd never heard of him with not being into BMX after 86/87
You wern't wrong mate ,,,, that wallride is rad as fooooooooooook :coolsmiley:
Nice bike t'boot :smitten:

Hahaha, I just think they all deserve MUCH more credit than they get!
It's all about the North - South divide, that apparently didn't exist!
Dave was never the smoothest rider but he was a rad fooker full stop. I'll dig out some old pictures later and let you see what I mean. Dave was busting 7-8' airs in 1983, which by anyones standards is fooking high.
Shaun Allison was mental, I've seen him Abubaca telephone boxes from off a wall about half the size and then dropping back to the flat bottom, insane! Sid was BB grinding benches before anyone else had ever thought about doing it!
I hope all's well anyway Chris, hopefully we'll catch up before the years out, lol!

I seem to remember a pic of him doing a candybar abubaca on a park bench?

Here's some of the pics I promised, loads more when I get time.
There's a couple from one of mine and Dave's trips to Southsea, loads more of them kicking around somewhere. The others are from the YMCA in Sheffield where we used to ride in the indoor gym/hall upstairs. Like I said, he was getting BIG air in the early days but not many people saw him. The windows in the YMCA are 7', Martin Bernstein who is stood on top of the ramp is over 6' tall, in the black and white pic, Dave was boosting over 7', remember, this was 1983 ffs, rad as fook! I've also seen him footplant the wood above the windows which is about 10'........like I said, 1983, nutter!!!

I was fortunate enough to ride with these boys.......very talented and down to earth peeps, had some bizarre times with dave and still have a letter he sent me in 1987 when I was in edinburgh.....very very sladesque. Daves riding was both a bit mad and very creative, remember the first time I met him was at some crazy farmers field demo and he was riding what could only be described as a piece of shit with no brakes yet was hitting about 5 foot on a rickety quarter. Sean just had bonkers ability to pop onto stuff and boost...........wallride wi nowt taken out..... etc etc. and whats all the fuss about street riding huh??? kerb endo anybody??? :daumenhoch:
and just cause the zines didnt love em doesnt mean they dont get the respect they are due....

The black and white pic says it all,,,,,
Like you say Rosscoe "respect is due " :coolsmiley: :4_17_5:

watcha Daz hows the knees mate? me fizgog page stopped working so had to delete it, not bothered with a new one, remember seeing Slady air over those windows at the ym when the big ramp was up, he used to wave at the muscle bob square pants on the other side working out :LolLolLolLol: brill
-
Aye, not bad pal, how's you?
Knee's healing well, plenty of physio but hopefully I'll be riding by the end of the year.
It was the big ramp that I broke my feckin ankle on, gggrrrrrr! I've seen Dave, and Lee Brown too, busting big air on the big ramp. Dave well over the wood like you say. Probably 9' I reckon. I'm just trying to remember who's FB page I saw a decent picture of Dave from Alfreton.......I'm gonna go and have a look as it's bugging me. If I find it I'll stick it up.
