I was trying to hold back on posting about this but I'm almost wetting myself!! Ebay purchase Friday evening, collected Saturday and added a few components since relative to the bike. The seller was a really cool guy, loves his oldskool and had a good ole chinwagy but was unfortunatley selling up his last remaining items. Has a really good eye re attention to detail as well.
There are some very obvious clues as to what it is. There's a set of mint original decals which I bought about 4 years ago!, original seat clamp and viscount dynamax seat to fit, the frame colour is a custom lavender blue, it's much richer/darker in the flesh.
Quick adjust Tioga seat clamp, ktt pedals, sugino crank, tioga cd, generic white boot

Can you guess what it is yet!

superb resto'd sakae spin tech, really clever bit of kit, gotta figure how to set the brakes up!
6 spoke skyway bleached about 2 years ago, (rear is in process of being bleached), oddy barefeet, genuine spinner pegs
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/s6/aerostylie/PICT0825-1.jpg)
880 front and 750 rear (never seen one before, rare?)
Tech 77 levers, ame grips, jive donuts
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/s6/aerostylie/PICT0827-1.jpg)
not everyone's cuppa, painted sugino arms

Still have a way to go to complete but credit has to go to the previous owner, just absolutely love this build. :smitten:

rear brake goes under chainstay paul, there should be a cable stop under bottom bracket -looks similar to the brake set up on a '87 gt performer (or on my '88 'beat)

Yeah got that Gary, not sure about the cabling and how it attaches to the 750, although I think something attaches to it to pull the 2 ends up. Will have a look

cable goes through adjuster +then you want a cable hanger ,hooked on to straddle cable on the 760 like you have on a add990 setup ,

You guys are ace for helping out, also to Mr Costa for pics of rear brake set up :4_17_5:
Talking of brakes, set up the 880 the weekend, first time i've done a potts mod type cabling and it fookin works, took me time no drama queen stuff!! Note the fork decals will be changed for originals.

Ok have a couple of choices to make, use original components that have some small signs of wear, or go nos minty items?:
1) Seat clamp: original donut or minty tioga quick release?
2) Seat: absolute minty Dominator or original dynamax which has dinks, scars which i've tried to smooth out but not perfect despite pic?

Cheers Christian, gotta add an extra £2.50 for the cable hanger/brackets ;D
To be fair, whats driven the cost down was the ebay sale which was a buy it now for £150, including the 2 seats and seat clamps shown above. The seller had sourced parts from the states and knew the price of stuff so was well aware what the scene is like, but was getting out of oldskool and wasn't interested in selling at inflated prices.
Think he wanted it to go to a good home to complete than strip down and re-sell. Just got lucky i suppose, i felt a bit sorry in a way so gave the guy a bit more dosh. I've had some parts knocking around purchased before boom time which has helped......and Im public sector so can't spend loads!!
-
thats looking sweet mate sory for the delay on the rest of the pics you need will try and get you them this week :daumenhoch:
-
loving this build Paul! personally i'd go for the donut clamp as i'm not keen on the quick release thing. seat? i'd go for the dominator but i'm not sure what they came with :-\
-
Lovely bike, swap the tyres round though as every set of barefeet I've seen fitted or had on my bikes has had the feet prints facing so they leave the correct print on the floor. :daumenhoch:
-
off eBay last year ,nobody even bid on it, rang the guy up and bought it that day £250 complete :)

one thing though Wadz, that gyro looks like the plate is in the wrong place on the headset.......the black plate should be put on before the headset cups get pushed into the frame.
