Title: anyone got a streetbeat with canti mounts?
Post by: ukoldschool on May 27, 2011, 03:37 PM
Im pretty sure im not going mad, but i remember a series 2 streetbeat (the 2 tone ones) with rear canti mounts back in the day... I tried a small wienman racer caliper on mine that didnt have them in the other bridge next to the chainwheel and that seemed to work ok but i remember clearance was an issue... fancy the idea of welding canti mounts on mine and repainting it....... wonder if anyone has one I coudl take pics/measurements from?

there was a MKII beat as you say, It was the chrome and blue or chrome and black ones with AD mounts underneath the chainstays.  The two tone ones were the completes but they didn't have mounts, just normal caliper hole.  they came in white and grey/red/green from what i remember  :daumenhoch:

awesome frame and forks and even though they're small they still make great riders

you can put a ad brake plate on the chainstays ,works well +can get a 39t chain ring on for lower gearing  :daumenhoch:

Guys, not wishing to be picky (OK, totally being picky) but those aint "canti" mounts. They are "990" or "U-brake" mounts. Canti mounts (as found on MTBs) are in a different place (relative to the rim) and a slightly different shape mount.

i hate watching anything like that ( i did watch it though) it brings home how guilty i feel when i splash cash and spend more on things i really dont need. crap country.
think i might go and build a bike with landar parts now after watching that.

I am one of those poor kids that was on the telly the other night.   :'(  If you donated that frame to me you would make a sad underprivileged child very happy and you'd feel less guilty the next you buy an ivory back-scratcher.   ;)
