Title: BITD Torker Replica
Post by: Gnarlyscoots on December 03, 2011, 01:20 AM
1981 Torker Standard L.P.

Replica of my 1981/82 ride

BITD I rode one of these awesome machines but sadly sold the frame and fork to a mate to purchase a Rickman freestyle frame and fork. Over the period of time that I had the Torker though, the parts that you now see on this frameset is what I had on my ride back then and just transferred to the Rickman. Having a Dp GL, Haro Team Master and Schwinn Predator Freeform in my collection, what really needed doing was my first freestyle ride that I owned.

It has taken some time to track down the correct 'used' parts I needed and have to thank all the guys that have contributed in any form to get this right. I still need that elusive 'used' white Sharp lever grip though. The odd item is not the correct spec I had, i.e Headlock was a blue Suntour, not Tange, Stem was blue Tuf Neck and not Pro Neck and I think I had blue ODI's but, we are not far out.

Torker L.P standard frame and fork with OG decals and LBS decal
Tange Meriter headset
Blue Tange Headlock
Blue Pro Neck stem
Blue Ukai speedlines with Shimano cassette rear and Shimano front hubs
White Tioga silver/green label 1.75 skinwalls
Blue MX900 with Blue DC cable and Tech 3 lever. White Sharp lever grip.
Blue twin bolt DC MX seatclamp
Elina UL chequered layback
Blue Shotgun saddle
1987 Torker bars
Blue Oury grips
Tange BB
SR 174mm one piece cranks
Blue Shimano SX pedals
White Tioga spider
Blue Sugino 39T, polished teeth ring
Sugino bolt set

I hope you enjoy this as much as I have putting it together and cannot wait to get out on my old haunts with it.

Peace.

I only had a right hand Tech 3 to start with but have now sourced the lefty. Shimano SX pedals have now been replaced with Suntour 'beartraps' XC II's.

Cheers Tommy  :coolsmiley: Was great to build and the memories that came with doing it were worthwhile  :smitten: Even managed to track down most of my mates whilst building it and getting what they remembered of it and of theirs too  :daumenhoch: Got 4 of them doing their own BITD builds now too  :LolLolLolLol:

Riding it most days now and getting used to the geometry again. Gone new school too and just waiting for delivery of it  ::)
