It's a work in progress at the moment. I should have it done for MK this year though. Here's what it was like when i picked it up
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/af3/dancetothedrummersbeat/PeugeotBlackLionBMXWhite.jpg)
Never liked the white/red colour scheme, and wanted a blue/yellow one, so I stripped the paint & had the f&f repainted in 2 pack. Always thought the original blue was a bit washed out, and i didn't like the gold forks so i had it repainted darker in Vauxhall magnetic blue. Repro decals from Del (of course!). I've also had some repro pads made (thanks Steve!), but don't have a pic of them.
and here's a pic of what an original blue black lion would look like

After my MK1 Grifter ,,,
Had 5 different BMX's over a 6 year period ,seemed like double that with all the parts swapping :D
First BMX
Ammaco Sport :smitten: the first short run of Ammaco's before the looptails ,,,this was a white frame /red components in Jan 1982 ,,Wow that's 30 years ago now
then following Christmas in 82
Falcon with a 2 hole gusset like a Burner with braised collared weld joints like a road bike frame , again a very short run of these before the Falcon/Cyclepro bikes came out . Crap frame but loaded with nice bits , for a cheap bike ,,Takagi tourney 3 piece , Araya 7C's ,,Mitsuboshi Comp II's
Spent basically all of 83 saving up buying all the bits throughout the year to build my next bike in Christmas 1983 ,.
My Mum bought me a Chrome GT (Nora) standard frameset (17.5 tt ) and Tuffs from Surrey BMX. The first run of alloy rear and placky front hubbed Tuffs ,, they advertised these as Tuff III's ???
I built a replica of this bike a few years back (except it actually had an Addicks yellow chainring)
Tip:- dont recreate your old bikes they never looked as good as you remembered , usually aa riight hotspotch of colours too :crazy2:
Kept the GT around 2 years and swapped the parts like crazy along the way :crazy2: :idiot2:swapped my Suntour VX for a Takagi one piece ,,etc :D
Later changed frames with a mate for Kuwahara Nova with black Ukai's,, then swapped for white OGK's
(http://www.dreamgate.ne.jp/kuwahara/history/83ad2.jpg)
Bought a white DP Firebird Fresstyler from a friend who'd just got a Prolite CC and tricked it out with white parts and Lavender Tuffs
Last bike I had that ,, dabbled with skating in 86/87 too , sold the DP as it wasn't getting used anymore ,,in early 88 I think ,,,for £15 :-\
Well it paid for a driving lesson :D ,,shame
-
My first BMX was simply named "BMX" I dont even think it was a make..... :2funny: That said it could have been a universal i suppose or something like that. Then got an Aero burner which I rattle canned white, saved all my car wash money to buy a set of lavender tuffs from Basildon Halfords then had "Rad City" do me some lavender TA stickers :D.. To me it WAS a TA, and I told everyone it was...... :LolLolLolLol:

1979 I got a team murray, then about '82 a DB pro star which got swapped for a marlboro zapper, it didnt matter to me that they were lower end bikes, they were mine and that's what mattered :daumenhoch:
-

-
started with a Iron horse and ended with a mongoose supergoose.
-
never had a bmx as a kid, just like to waste my money now like everyone else :D

30-1992 ground master. This was my last project which I still have.
31-2008 mirraco blend lite pro series. Frame for sale.
32-1985 green master. This is very much a work in process.
33-2012 Hoffman condor. The full chromoly version. Hopefully get this one done soon.
34-1989 bashguard team master. Currently sourcing parts to complete.
I think that is it from what I can remember. Most of these were not completes just frame sets I got from some of the old pro's around the late 80's early 90's. I used to get a lot of second hand cracked frames coz I could weld them up. I would ride them for a bit and then sell them on. It started getting to the stage where every month I would be riding a different frame! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Team Murray was my introduction to BMX .
The blue and yellow one , soon ditched the yellow lester mags for spokes ( still coaster though). had a massive box full of bike bits in the garage at mum and dads.
About once a fortnight my dad re-welded it at the joint of the seatpost and top tube, about once a day i took a mallet to the bent one-pice crank to straighten it. :daumenhoch:
Then in 83 ( i think :uglystupid2:) i got a DiamondBack Viper, :smitten: :smitten: loved that bike ...sooo shiny...
Following year white coaster Tuffs added to it , as i struggled with the viper`s lack of coaster on the trick ramp doing kickturns .
Snapped the forks at the diamond in the drop-outs , more welding for dad :2funny:
85 got me a Haro FST frameset which i transferred the rest of the DB bits , which i kept . tweaked and rode till about 1991 . sold it for £60 to a lad i worked with. :Aresehole: by that time it had Peregrine Q-bars, Haro freestyle tyres and DC brakes ,Skyway Hotseat, TufNeck power disc and Grafight X pedals ......
SIXTY FOOKIN QUID ...WHAT WAS I THINKING? :2gunsfiring_v1:
-
Got a DB Pro-Star just after Christmas 1982, I remember the local shop doing a sale and we got it for £79.99 (I had to sell a few things to make up the money, along with a paperound, etc), then sold it later that year and got a DB Silver Streak, again it had been reduced. :daumenhoch:
-
