Is it me or is OLD SCHOOL BMX recession proof ???
I haven't built a bike for a few years now, so when I saw a nice Skyway TA in white (I'm sure some of you RADSTERS were watching it) on flea bay a few weeks back, I thought that would make a perfect new project, but it went for £570
So then I thought a nice 85 green Master would be nice, it went for £370 I think  I bought one only 3 years ago for £120!
Is this really the going rate now for these nice, but lets be honest, not VDC rare?
Are we all gonna get to old for BMX soon :'( will the bubble burst :coolsmiley: Any thoughts or Skyway TA's fellas.

I have a TA. I wouldn't have payed over 500 for one though (nearly but not quite!)
They do seem to be going for good money, if it's a good one that is. Seen a few on the Museum which I wouldn't have touched.
You after a TA then?

boom bust boom bust...who cares.
if its a hobby then treat it as such.
if its an investment, then i'd say look elsewhere.
i'll always have an interest, and a few bikes knocking about.
people are into cool shit from the past, always will be.
will always be worth something to someone somewhere.

I have a looooovely TA you can buy for a miiiiiiiiillllion dollars!

whers mini me matt :2funny:

The old bubble bursting , price drop, death of old school chesnut
These are the prices now , I can't see them ever going down ,,, up possibly :-\,,, fluctuating definately ;)
Once any collecting genre is established ,,particularly globally as Old school BMX is ,, items have their fixed appraisal value .
Collectors come and go from different era's and backgrounds , but collectable desirability is lasting ;)
-
fluctuating definately ;)

Fook me, have you been reading that Rogets Thesaurus I bought you for rammadam ?

what Dubber said, :daumenhoch:
i dont think prices are going to get much cheaper or much more expensive.
i'd say most peeps that collect genuinely do have a passion for it, so if they have £400 in their paypal will spend it on a bike or parts, and whatever is on eBay.
the days of a pair of nos cw's for £7 and mx1000's for £20 i think are long gone though, recession or no recession.
but i havent got a crystal ball, otherwise i would have bought apple shares.

I can only see it growing. Particularly now the guys in the east are on board. There's a lot of money over there, and they seem to like the American stuff. They aren't old guys either by any stretch.
As has been said above. It's a hobby, and treat it as such. I'm trying to restore as much as possible on my current build :daumenhoch:

I guess it's hard to put a price on nostalgia :) There's a Skyway T/a on ebay at the mo, £1250 or offers complete bike, but it was on last week at £600 with no takers ???
Has anyone spotted it? Anyone on Rad selling? No takers at £600  That's a deal ain't it.

I paid top cash for my ta f/f and im not bothered if it loses a few quid while i have it. If you want something bad enough you will pay.
Its defo not a cheap skates game anymore if you want nos stuff. Restoration/part sourcing for me are the biggest interest.
