"NOS IN THE BOX 1983 MONGOOSE PRO CLASS IN SHOW CHROME!! 8) 8)
So here goes
I recieved a PM on bmxmuseum.com from a USA Member on the 17-4-2012 and it read somthing like this.
"Hi there, i have a Brand New Mongoose Pro Class bike still in the box for sale. If you are interested please send me you email address and ill send you some pics"
Well i was a bit sceptic at first as ive had PM's like this before and it always turns out to be either a 1998 Mongoose Pro or one of the Mongoose 2005 re-issue bikes. Anyways thought nothing to loose and sent him a message back with my email but not expecting anything startling or soon.
The next day i receive an email back from the member with a little description and some photo's. Here is two of them.

Well my jaw hit the floor to say the least       HOLY FEC
So i messaged the guy straight back and asked for some more details and of course a price :? :?
The story goes that the guy who messaged me was selling it on behalf of another person, an old bike shop owner who was'nt very well and wanted to sell to get some money together to pay for his health care. He owned a Bike shop in America in the 80s and had the bike in storage ever since his shop shut down. Apparently the bike was ordered in for a customer who then came back and said he could'nt go through with the sale. The old guy kept the bike thinking he would sell it to somone else but never did. Once his shop shut down it just got put into storage along with some other stuff and its been sitting there since the 80s   8) 8)
After some tooing and frowing about the deal regards Price, Posting and payment we finally came to a deal and i recieved the bike 5 days later. The bike was posted via USPS with a value of $40 and as a gift so as not to get any custom charges. Which was a bit risky as if it had gone missing i would'nt have been able to claim the full amount it was worth. So for 5 long days :? :? i was checking the tracking over and over untill it arrived safe and sound
As soon as it arrived i took it all out of the box and looked over it for over 2 hours. I could'nt believe i han a NOS IN THE BOX MONGOOSE PRO CLASS IN MY LIVINGROOM
I was as happy as a pig in sh1t   8) 8)
So here's some photos ive taken to share with you all. Ive probs taken over 100 detailed photo's here are just a few for everyone to look at, Enjoy 8) 8) 8) :D :D :D

He must think there's a profit in this. I've seen his eBay auctions. :-X
-
A lil bit of sex wee just popped out :-[
That is stunning if she was mine i wouldnt know what to do with it build it? keep it boxed? OMG
-
He must think there's a profit in this. I've seen his eBay auctions. :-X
I'm sure, I've seen him get completes very cheap under the guise of being a 'real enthusiast' then sell ever last washer for massive profit. Classy behaviour that :police:
-
5 grand :idiot2:
What could you do with it, look in the box every now and then? :crazy2:
-
Very nice find. :daumenhoch:
-
can i have the brakes if you split :daumenhoch: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: great find :smitten:
-
Nice!
That's this summer's lake jumper then!
-
Please never build it,that's stunning
-
5K = fookin idiot confirmation ::)
:daumenhoch:
Wait, 5k?
Shit. If I spent that much on a BMX I'd build it and ride the fooking arse off it.
If you don't, you may as well just have a poster of it on your wall.
-
Why?
If you feel the need to buy it, and you can buy it, then buy it..... ???
-
Why?
If you feel the need to buy it, and you can buy it, then buy it..... ???
Hell yeh. You want a go on it though! Well I would.
-
If I told my wife I'd spent 5k on an old bike, I think I'd be having it surgically removed from my colon.
Very cool though
-
fair play to him , proper cool thing , just a shame peeps feel the need to slag him when he aint on here to defend himself
-
slag....
-
That is lovely :smitten:
-
Very Nice that.
If he has got 5k and wants to spend it on that then it must be worth 5k to him and he will get 5k's worth of satisfaction from it, so good luck to him.
Some people buy flash cars and watch 5k fall off them as they drive it off the forecourt ???
-
nice but not 5k nice.
-
Jimmy's been in this a long while , sold loads at a tidy profit so that 5K bike (if thats what he has paid :-\) probably stands him at 2.5K .
His money , he can spend it how he likes .
I think it's cool as fook 8) ........ would i spend 5K on that or any other kids bike .... no way . I'd want a engine inbetween the two wheels for that kind of money ;)
-
it is rather nice :smitten:
-
Very nice and a rare find. But if it was broken up and sold in bits, What would it fetch £2-3000, So that's a £2000 cardboard box
-
It's fookin' stunning that is :coolsmiley: A super cool find and who cares what it cost. If you got the funds and want to blow it on an old school BMX, do it :daumenhoch:
How many people can actually say that they have not wasted money buying stupid things through their lives? We only live once, enjoy it.
How many other people can say they have a complete Pro Class that's never been built ::)
Great find, now get it built and ridden :LolLolLolLol:
-
fair play to him , proper cool thing , just a shame peeps feel the need to slag him when he aint on here to defend himself
Who's slagging him off?
-
sir - I HATE YOU VERY MUCH !! :LolLolLolLol:
beautiful thing ! :4_17_5:
-
Forget the money.... that's one of a kind
WoW stunning, thanks for sharing :daumenhoch:

It was great to see this in the flesh at bb12.
An awesome find/ piece of bmx history.
That's pukka, did he really pay 5k for it ?
The same figure was circulating at bb12.
I asked jimmy and the figure he told me was lower than that.
-
i once spent 5k on fookin watch :idiot2: ...each to their own....stunning piece of history there.
-
As good as it gets... :daumenhoch: what next? Will you build it?
-
i was thinking about that.
Keep it the way it is and it's a box of bits but If you build it it's just another NOS build.
Don't know what i'd do.
-
I'd put on my wall... like an old Airfix kit or an exploded diagram. Bonza :daumenhoch:
Jimmyp will put in his underground bunker, along with 500 tins of Vegetable Soup and all the back issues of David Ikes 'He's a Lizard Ya NutFook' bi monthly.
-
fair play to him , proper cool thing , just a shame peeps feel the need to slag him when he aint on here to defend himself
i'd slag him any way the fookin nugget, the last thing we need is some doolally paranoid keyboard slaverer sprouting "do as i say not as i do" here to tell us the pitfalls of logical stable minded thought never mind being here to defend himself.
like i said, bike is lovely, tiz a great find but not by a great mind :LolLolLolLol:
-
Brilliant... :daumenhoch:

What he said
-
Why do people feel the need to slag the guy off? I dont care if he paid 5 quid or 50k for it, I know I'd love it & I guess everyone else on here would.
-
Yeh ya big meanies.
Now all shake hands and say fooking sorry.
-

Our choice, I didn't enjoy his primary school level conspiracy claptrap and the patronising way he refused to discuss it properly, nor have I liked his tacky profiteering from BMX. I'm not afraid of expressing my opinion.
-
just a thought would a bike frame and forks come from the factory with bb cups and head set cups, seems odd to me, serial number ? if you ve got a pro class (proper) one check yours against the number in the pic it will be different, none the less :smitten: gorgeous

You saying it's a Mk2 Burner with Mongoose stickers?
-
once a burner always a burner :daumenhoch:
-
bit odd everything is there in kit form. its a bit too contrived ! unless it was once fully assembled and stripped or its just totally pro kit ! >:(
-
ive had 3 or 4 different pro class in my hands and the serial numbers are different ive had my theories confirmed and shot down in flames by 2 well learned in the art of the goose fighting style members :daumenhoch:

which he did incessantly due to ignoring anybody elses take on the complete drivel he used to knock out,
you dudes above must have missed it or been before your time or never entered the rad lounge of doom when he was here, or been brain washed by the nugget :LolLolLolLol:
cant take the niceness of the bike away from him, fookin awesome score, great to see but he is a fookin nugget , if he got it for a tenner he's still a fookin nugget, the blokes a nugget :)
-
;D even the box is cool :daumenhoch:
-
Don't know the bloke personally but he has one hell of a score there. Admit it, we're all jealous!!!
-
No, not jealous at all, it'd just be another iconic bike too small for me to ride :D
It IS a very interesting find and I'm pleased to have seen the pictures etc, so thanks for posting :daumenhoch:
-

Would rather have a nos beat complete Steve hey? Imagine finding one of those in the back of a shop? :D

and unsullied by nugget fingerprints, nice :daumenhoch: :LolLolLolLol:

Yep would rather find a NOS Streetbeat for sure, but you can't knock that piece of history right there.
And I didn't mean the jealousy thing to knock anybody there, I just meant we all wouldn't mind that in our collections.

Yeah, before my time I guess and don't know the bloke so all I can do is look at the bike without any personal thoughts about the guy. I'd still love it tho even if the owner was my worst enemy!!!
-

Apparently you could get them about 10 years ago for just over £100 from America :(

The question was asked. Apparently they came from the factory like this.. but it changed in 84 when they came ready built from the factory:

As Glynn said, it wasn't 5k.. fooking lovely bit of kit though :smitten:

I wouldn't have the slightest idea, it's not something I look into, or lookout for. I guess if you have the money, and you want it bad enough - 5k isn't out of the realms of possibility with OS BMX prices as they are nowadays.
-
Don't know the bloke personally but he has one hell of a score there. Admit it, we're all jealous!!!
I'm not Jealous either, it is very nice & probably the only true Nos unbuilt one in the world & I would like it, but I wouldn't pay £5K for it, I would buy something else :)
-
Me too, but none of us would deny they would want that in their collection......don't take the jealosy thing so seroius, it was meant to be light-hearted. ;)
-
ive been on the stella for the last few days and to me that bike box looks different from the one in the original pictures so you ve just answered the question its a supergoose with nos parts in the box that was on us ebay a while back
-
I must say!!! Nugget is my new word for the day :LolLolLolLol:
-
trying to initially incite people into a near future sale ?
-
Ohh my, that is lush :smitten: :smitten:
Some nice bikes on here but this has to be up there as one of the best.
A great find and a great piece of BMX History :4_17_5:
-
Good for Jimmy I say.
Personally as others have said, what do you do with it now? Keep it in the box (which seems a shame and a waste) or build it up (which also seems a shame and a waste).
-
What do you do with it now...by the looks of things sell it for $15k on the Museum ::) the yanks will indeed to nuts for this.

No idea Sean, there are a few posts on his thread over there making offers to buy it but not sure if they're just tongue in cheek or not. :-\
-
That is the filthiest bit of bike porn I have ever seen. Oooooooh you slutty little pro class xx

Don't as I don't want or more importantly cannot afford it anyway :LolLolLolLol:
I just thought that if he was selling it, it would be a shame, but reading on Museum he looks as though he is keeping it. :daumenhoch:

'He's a Lizard Ya NutFook'
FPMSL , Funniest thing I've seen on here in ages :2funny:
Nice bike , not jealous , must be a conspiracy ............. :LolLolLolLol:

Theres a Nomura frame with Tange forks on the Museum right now for $9995 making the Pro Class a bargain.
-
I think it's amazing ... :coolsmiley:  "wantit" Very frickin' cool and I'm not a massive 'goose-head :smitten:
Yeah so what if it's £5k ... I've spent more on NOS seats in my time! :2funny:
To be fair each to their own ... What do I do with my two carpet queens other than stare, lust and drool....? ( I guess at least I found all those parts and built them from scratch I suppose but there is very little difference )
If I had the money lurking and someone offered it to me I'd be straight in there...
What makes me laugh though is that it's not even got original expensive comp IIIs on it ... They're Cheng Shin! :uglystupid2: :2funny:
I wonder if he did actually pay £5k or is he hoping to drum up trade and make a tidy profit ? Cynical Moi? Never ! :knuppel2:
-
get a bashguard on it and I might be interetsed
-
f in ell. deja vu !
-
:LolLolLolLol:
I missed it too! :crazy2:

Luv this story, loads of hidden gems put their. I know of a few in the box pk rippers and odd haros
