Title: 80s freestyle tyres
Post by: stevepeanut on February 01, 2013, 10:23 PM
Another question I need help with.

I have only built burners in the past and for tyres I have always used comp3s. I am building my first freestyle bike, a haro invert freestyler, 1988. I want to fit period correct freestyle or ramp tyres. The only freestyle tyres that I own are a nos pair of primo v monsters, I was told these were 20 years old so this would make them early 1990s. What tyres should I be trying to find? I would prefer black or red tyres with amber walls. Cheers.

Comp STs or Panaracers ... but you are looking at £80-£100 for a pair  :'(

88 Ed?weren't people using peregrines and the like by then?or the newer haro freestyle tyres?I'd be inclined to stick the V-monsters on especially if it is to be ridden :daumenhoch:

Keep an eye out matey, I sold some red pana's not long ago for about £45 I think, they come up around that price from time to time.  Some colours more expensive than others mind  :daumenhoch:

Does anyone know anything about these Union freestyle tyres I have on my RL20? I've seen a couple of pairs come up for sale on BMX Museum, but have no idea when they were produced.  I assumed they were mid 1980s? I picked this set up on Ebay (US)
