Title: Kuwahara Exhibitionist 'Survivor' build
Post by: Gnarlyscoots on February 13, 2013, 04:50 PM: Firstly, this is the frame set I always wanted as a kid but could never afford it. Fast forward to late 2011, this became available and I was lucky enough to get my hands on it. The chrome and decals are survivor as the original owner had had it hung in his lobby since he stopped using it back 1987. I wanted to go with the 'survivor' look to start with so I can actually ride it without fear of destroying mint or NOS parts. I had all the parts to my vision of how I wanted this to look as a 'survivor', so, before I carry on gathering the parts for a final build later this year, I have put it together so at least I can finally get out on it now.

I have omitted some rare, lovely items from it that will grace it later on the rebuild.

The parts list is as follows:-

1984 first gen Kuwahara Exhibitionist frame and fork in original chrome and decals,
Tange MX-2 headset,
Kuwahara stamped bars,
Kuwahara stamped seat post,
Mike Buff Z's laced to chrome Sunshine hubs, flip flop rear,
Tioga Comp Ramp tyres,
Suntour 14T freewheel
Tuff Neck stem
1984 dated MX900's, Tech 3 levers and DC cables,
Oakley B-1B's,
Suntour headlock,
Tange seat clamp,
Tange BB,
Takagi one piece,
Tioga task force spider,
Super duralium 44T chainring,
'84 dated Kashimax Aero,
KKT SMX pedals.

I was trying to attain the 'old' feel about so that I can live that 'old' feel when I ride it.

It will get a make over later in the year with some very nice and rare parts but, for now, it's gonna get ridden ;)

I didn't get a chance to ride it today Gaz, sorry, as I babysit the girls on Wednesdays. I had to chuck this together during their 2hr midday snooze :LolLolLolLol:

They are 'true' survivor, probably too hard to use tbh, but you can have them if you want. :daumenhoch:
