Title: Anarchic Adjustment
Post by: Trickstar84 on March 06, 2013, 03:41 PM
Hi there, anyone remember Anarchic Adjustment from the mid 80's ?? Nick Philip and Alasdair Mackenzie set it up in 1986, this was their first item of clothing they did.

Didn't they originally invent the company so they could import Vans in that no one else had  :4_17_5:

Yeah probably, i used to buy all sorts from them, skyway wheels, vans etc...... although Nick and Alasdair were both into design so not the main reason i think,  they were mates of mine, we all came from Muswell Hill, Finchley and Highate and rode together

i remember this ad, nice find :)

I remember all the AA stuff, had the edgy, street inspired look that finally got freestyle away from the 'full race uniform' era. It was basically street/surf clothing & a GT Performer with day-glo griptape, fully stickered up, and it had to have Action Zone bars!  :coolsmiley:

:) Lots of us were influenced by AA.We used to make wheel slices IIRC-a section of plastic between 2 spokes of our mags, usually with a London Underground decal on nicked off the tube..Also had half Hammerite/half chrome frames.

:daumenhoch: the influence was bigger than We realise I think! The mindset of riding & what it could mean changed, or at least allowed Us to express it. I just remember turning up at a UKBFA comp & lots of people were in cool gear, the bikes had changed & there was an attitude (in a good way) there. Then I think I got My run music stopped because it had 'unsuitable lyrics' in it or something  ::)

:) Knd of like the Spike Jonze et al thing of the U.K.More street orientated stuff, getting rid of riding in race gear & a big skate influence coming in & more of a DIY ethic.

Your right Brothers

Massive influence on BMX at the time.

I painted the rear half of my chrome Changa in Purple Hammerite and had Skyways with 'wheel slices' I made out of big warninig stickers i taft of building sites.

We had a shop in Nottm called Gridiron that used to stock Life's a Beach' gear so had stickers everywhere. Haha

Best time in BMX.
