Title: Space Developments HELP!
Post by: theace27 on December 05, 2013, 01:27 PM
Hi guys, I am new here. I am building my first BMX Freestyle bike in almost 20 years. I am building a clone of the Ron Wilkerson bike that he rode in the intro of the movie Rad. Ron used a Space Developments brand seat post on that bike. Over here (Canada) there doesn't seem to be any info on Space Developments nor do a lot of people remember the company. I assume finding the correct seat post is next to impossible so I took a Haro post and shortened up the top portion after the bend to make it look like the one on Ron's bike. But onto my question here, does anyone have  a copy either in magazine print or in decal form of the Space Developments logo? I'd like to create a decal for the post I did to make it look more screen accurate. Thanks guys! Mike K

Here is the parts pile! The frame, fork, bars and stem are at C4 labs as I write this getting a freshen up on the paint and decals.

What I have is mostly screen caps from the movie. The only real pics I have of Ron's bike is after he switched from the grey Peregrines to the teal ones. Do you have any by chance?

A friend of mine who just recently built a Wilkerson bike himself told me that he spoke with Ron to get the low down on the actual bike and Ron told him that his bike was a 1986 with the 1985 forks. I am trying myself to find a set of 85 forks or the early 86's with the high peg mounts to make my bike that much closer to the real deal.

Does anyone know who owns the Freestyler on the home page?

I am curious to know what that logo is on the seat post. It doesn't look like a Haro one to me.

If you manage to replicate these decals though, can I get a set from you too please. I am trying to find someone to do them for me for the bars that I have  :(

Awesome!!!!! Thank you so much! Is there anyway you can take a few more pictures of this:

Basically if you could shoot maybe 4 shots of it, from all the way from left to right, that way I can see the whole logo. The other logo should be easy to re-draw. Thank you again!

You've no idea how tough this was. Delving into forgotten garage corners, flat camera batteries and a busted SD card reader all taking turns to ruin this for me.
Anyway, on an ancient folder once held by Dave Slade himself, I (bloody eventually) found something that might help you a little...
