Afternoon guys.
Another stupid question from me! I'm looking at chains for my '88 team master. I'd like a chrome/silver one. Originally it came with a silver KMC 1/2 x 3/32 chain, but most of the silver chains I can find are 1/2 x 1/8th.
I take it the numbers relate to the length and width of a link. Does the size really matter?
The reason I ask is that Alan's have quite a nice Izumi in the 1/2. 1/8th size...also how many links should I be looking at getting for a 44 t/ 16t set up?
Thanks in advance for answering my very basic questions!

1/2 x 1/8 should be fine, i think the amount of links you normally get is 112 which is plenty. you will probably need to remove a few.

1/2 is the size between the roller bits and the 3/32 or 1/8 is the width ,, i think of the roller inside the link plates...? 3/32 is the skinny chain, bmx race bikes and bikes with derailer, mtb etc, 1/8 is single speed , bmx in other words ,
the number of links you will need will depend on the size of the frame and where you position the wheel in the dropouts , but i've always had spares with every new chain i've bought they are always to long , so you'll need to shorten it to the right size , 1/2 x1/8 is the one you want if your going to ride the bike :daumenhoch:
3/32 need thinner sprocket and freewheel to work properly , race spec bits, most standard bmx sprockets / freewheels are 1/8

Thank you very much! All this knowledge is being digested, so hopefully I can pass it on to newer members in due course! Izumi chain it is :)
