Title: 1983 Torker find
Post by: Chrisw0801 on April 21, 2014, 06:37 PM
I was working lates on Friday and was perusing eBay for some parts for my 88 haro sport. A contractor came to sign in and showed some interest in what i was doing. We had a brief chat and he said I've got an old bmx in my shed I'll pull it out and you can see if your interested it wasn't his the previous ppl left it behind. Anyway I thought not much more of it thinking it could be a pile of old tut. Well how wrong was I he rang me this morning saying it says torker on it. So I went after work and had a look sure enough there she was I think she's got most if her original parts too and is in ok shape considering. What a find and completely by chance I pick her up Friday

I checked the serial and it starts with TLL so nov 83 (I think) not sure what frame it is tho I think it's a pro x but any other info would be appreciated.

It is nice I like the orange got it for what I think was a steal (£300 maybe I'm wrong) probably would have been cheaper had I not opened my trap too much on the Friday lol

A nice subtle resto is what's needed here, strip, clean, grease and rebuild.

If the pedals and grips are fooked, then just replace with survivor parts, like for like, they pop up all the time. :daumenhoch:

Must just add, gotta agree with Dan, pleeeeeeease don't ruin it with a full on resto job. Bit of a clean & re grease, it'll be awesome!! ;)

I wasn't intending on a full mod like you say a clean up n some grease some pedals n grips you never know it might not make it that far it could be up for sale will see as it could help fund the restoration of my old bitd bike [attachment=1]

Now THIS is RAD! What a great find. They're still out there. I was talking to Ant (factory pilot) about this the other week. We were thinking that there must be some gems to be found in the garden sheds/garages on your average housing estate

I'd like to say yes but we had already come to an agreement and I feel I'd rather burn the cash now than than give it to him let him pay the fleabay fees and get stung by PayPal I have a moral code I stick to if I agree a price on something with someone I honour it

Well, look at it this way. There's a good chance that someone or other from this very forum will contact the guy and it'll disappear from eBay after a quiet little deal's done. So it's all good, eh?
