Went and bought this old Ammaco Freestyler today . . . a big thumbs up to "selfpreservation" for posting a link in the for sale section :daumenhoch:
Some nice parts fitted but check out the drum brakes . . . ??? . . . I never saw this set up BITD
DP Freestyle bars
DK Freestyle stem
Araya 7X rims (never seen a brake pad)
Tuf Neck Power Disc and chainring
Sugino crank
GT Pedals
Suntour seat clamp
Perhaps someone can help confirm the frame era and model . . . :)

nice one
looks like a cool bike
the funky drummer
-
that sweet , i have one of those and very nice well built frame and forks . anyone know where i can get stickers from
-
agewise you gotta be looking at 84 for that one
looks like the one that andy ruffel tested in action bike of that year - the same test where he announced he was quitting freestyle.
after that, they were all in white
looks like it has had a recent rebuild too.
the oddy dynatron BB wasnt about in 84, afaik.
as for the drums, didnt acs make a drum brake bitd?
and i think they were fitted to the cyclo trials bikes of the day, until hydraulic became the norm.
very tidy!
-
I'd hang onto those drums. Seems they are worth a bit. Woody Itson used them on his bike too bitd I think. :daumenhoch:

Sweet looking bike that. I saw the post that selfpreservation put up about it being for sale. If the gods are reading this and there really is a god of Karma, then you need to get him shining down on selfpreservation.
Top spot, top bike and top marks for the tip off to fellow radders. selfpreservation i salute you

Well said that man . . . "selfpreservation" deserves ALL the credit and once again . . . "I THANK YOU VERY MUCH" :daumenhoch:
Thanks for all your comments so far too guys . . . does anyone know what Ammaco model this is ??

I think it is a "Freestyle King" and they were out in 84 . My mate used to have one bitd and i am sure it said "Freestyle (or Freestyler) King" on the frame. I am guessing on the year to, might be 85. :)
-
have you tried to endo on them brakes yet steve.
how they work if you have.
any good ?.
-
The brakes work great Dave and I'll get the some endo pics sorted this weekend for a laugh . . . ;D

I think it must be an 85 Model Steve like a Freestyle King maybe. The headtube Gusset and Seatube area look a little different to the 84 Models Freestyle Ace and Freestyle Pro.
From bodamus ;)
-
That looks like an 85. I had a neon green F&F with the same detailing. Cool ! :)
-
its a freestyle king
the bars a re rare too :)
