Ok, so it's officially been announced that Skyway will be producing a new Streetbeat for 2016.
Rumoured to be based on the 88 but with a modern twist.
Who's going to be getting one?
-
i will await this with great interest........
-
Interesting. I'm guessing the new Ta's sold well enough to warrant having a go with the street beats?
You tempted Steve?
-
Yes, I'm having one of these, no question. ;)
-
Streetbeat....
...never heard of them!
-
Admit it Nick, you love em now don't you?
-
Will look at getting one if it's not too overpriced. Hopefully it will just be a frame +fork set. Rear break setup looks a bit iffy though
-
It is a frame and fork set plus they are going to reproduce the Pro Ez Bars too.
-
Hell yeah! I'll be putting an order in for one of these babies when they come out :daumenhoch:
-
Might wait for the inevitable price slash at Alan's or coloured tuffs ;)
-
Not convinced by those seatstay mounts. Ive taken their drawing and scaled it, using the TT length as a reference, and put 20" circles in the middle of the drop outs, what do you think
-
I know what you mean Jaymz, i dont think it helps that they are not mounted perpendicular to the chainstay ???
Probably drawn up by the same non bmx guy who did Bobs new freestyler renders ;)
-
early days yet guys, lets see how the prototypes look :daumenhoch:
-
Clint the drawings were done by Rein Stolz, same guy who designed the TA back in 83 and who has designed most skyway stuff over the years.
It's still at prototype stage so as Rob said, let's see how it turns out.
Again, I doubt I'll be riding mine so it's not going to make much difference to me ;D
-
Ah ok. I'm guessing they are hoping to give it a little more modern geometry? Would possibly explain not mounting the lugs on the chainstays. Might be an issue with clearance on modern gearing?
-
Can't make my mind up about all these reissue things :chin:
-
Not sold on them either most of them dont make sense as you can buy an original for similar money. :10_2_12:
-
Skyway is my favourite OS brand, but the re-issues aren't for me. Sorry folks :-*

88's don't come up that often to be honest and the new one will be longer 21" tt with 1/18th headset and 14mm rear drops
-
That's pretty cool but unless they've done something with the platform plate looks like it will crack behind the seat tube where they all did!
-
Me 'n Redline John (Cheekythirtysix) were in Ken Coster's office in Redding Ca. a couple of months ago and he had the original Streetbeat drawings/artwork out on a desk. He told us then that it was the next project and it was happening at the end of the year. We agreed that we'd keep shtum about it. They all seemed pretty excited about it. I've got some photos but they're stuck on my phone otherwise I'd post 'em up. :-\
-
Am looking forward to this :)

got to agree with you Andy mate... I got the haro AF cos it was limited and special and cheaper than an OG one but these aren't for me either... Sorry Steve :(
-
Everyone to their own guys so no worries. :-\
I've never owned a re-issue frame before but because the Streetbeat is close to my heart I will need to get one.
Already collecting parts ^"^

To be honest Steve if you didn't end up with one there would be definitely be something wrong!
When we love our brands and their bikes we are all in with this hobby :daumenhoch:
-
Keep us up to date Steve on progress..........looking forward to getting my name down for one of these :daumenhoch:
-
hope they do an updated turbo disc to go with is too, maybe 33/36t?
interested to see what the new ez bars will look like -seen on the museum they might be kneesaver ez style ???
-
great idea but it would need to be 25t or 28t as the rear dropouts are 14mm so it'll be made for modern cassette wheels and gearing :daumenhoch:
-
I'm definitely interested, I really hope Skyway bring back the Skyway Grabber seat to match.

would prefer a larger 'ring as wanted to use a coaster on mine -seeing as these's a coaster bracket on it ;)
-
No plans to re-introduce any parts like Grabbers or Hot Seats I'm afraid. I've already asked!! :'(

-
Is this frameset a deffo goer Steve?
The nutty lad on the museum is slowly convincing himself its a hoax based on the blueprint ???
-
From what Steve told me its a deffo :daumenhoch:
-
Deffo.....no question about it.
I've been speaking with Rein at skyway who, if anyone doesn't know, is chief designer there.
I'd like to tell you more but I've been sworn to secrecy!! :-X
Rein has posted several details on the Skyway Appreciation Society Group on Facebook too which confirms it.
Steve

-
