Hi All,
I know, another one, right!? ::)
I have been hankering after my old Kuwahara KE-1, latterly KYZ and stumbled across the MK event last weekend when I found MK had a BMX track!
I had no idea what it was all about, but did find it a bit odd half the people were my age, and it wasn't until I got back home and did some digging that I found you guys :)
It gave me the old bug back as I used to race in the 80's in SA at regional and national levels and just watching people on their bikes made me want to nick one just to have a go!
I have discovered I now know absolutely nothing about how the bikes or the sport has evolved over the years as I haven't been on a BMX for 3 decades!
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and may see some of you around sometime!
Keep well all,
Graeme

Welcome to :radbmxsmilie: Graeme.
You say you know nothing about BMX or bikes? Well, don't let that put you off, I've been on RAD about 6 years, and been building bikes for 8 years, and still know nothing about BMX or bikes. :D
Seriously mate, enjoy your time here, and don't be scared of asking any questions, no matter how daft you may think that they are. :daumenhoch:

:welcome to :radbmxsmilie: Graeme! Nearly everybody has been a newbie at some point. I'm on here for about 6 months now, was a newbie then too. I never expected to learn as much as I did in such a short time.
Just as Retrodan72 said, ask any questions and you will find help by the awesome people on here. :daumenhoch:
Be welcome, enjoy your time and have fun! :coolsmiley:

Thanks for the welcome all!
I am sure it is possible to redefine the term 'daft questions' so I may give it a go!

We are mostly all in our very late 30s or 40s on this site, + a few younger ones.
Do you have any old pictures of your KE1 they are always the best :)

Very late 30s... That's not a bad expression
I'm nearly 16 years into my 30s :teef:

I have a picture, but be warned, not a great picture of the bike AND it contains people from 32 years ago :knuppel2: .
I am also late 30's - 18 years late.....
PS - the bike (and I) are on the left....
PPS - and a 'borrowed' picture of my bike below that...

I saw the eBay one and briefly considered it, but the paint job and the shipping cost of £180 put me off. I would want to chrome and black it like the original KZ-1's which would get ridiculously expensive I would have thought!

Great photo.
Have you got any of the bike on its own.

Not at the moment - may be in the archives somewhere, but haven't found them yet! "nono"

Would be a great project to build your original bike. :)
What make and model is the bike in the middle of the photo. :-\

It would be great to build my original bike, but with the scarcity of parts and manufacturer not being around much, would expect that to be more than a little difficult.... Anyone on else here ever tried?
The bike in the middle (from very hazy memory was a Mongoose - '80 / '81 I think - like this one but with wire instead of the Motomag's

^ this sums it up. We were ALL new here once. A massive :welcome to :radbmxsmilie:. There are no stupid questions - we all had to learn, some of us like me knew virtually nothing when we got back into this bmx lark
