Title: Mongoose supergoose advice
Post by: Taipan on December 29, 2016, 05:41 PM
Always fancied a Mongoose possibly a Supergoose? saw this on the ebay and it got me thinking again? can anybody confirm it is what its advertised as? I thought the supergoose had 3 holes in the brake bridge? and whats with the forks?  take a look at the pic and share your knowledge  :daumenhoch: also what would be a fare price to pay for a supergoose  :daumenhoch:

Some of the UK Supergoose had the same brake bridge as Californian, as the Supergoose model was difficult to obtain in UK. It is really a Californian but the original buyer in the 80s would have purchased it as a Supergoose.

The Forks don't look correct.

I'm not a betting man but I'd put money on that NOT being a supergoose.

That year frame with the step down rear dropouts should definitely have 3 holes in the rear brake bridge and not just the one that this has got

Forks look like Akisu Aeros.

I didn't even bother looking at the forks soon as I saw that brake bridge. Plus the serial has been butchered

Had another look. I don't think its a Californian now. Its an Expert model. The tubes which hold the brake bridge go higher than the top tube. :-\ Sometimes the Experts were stickered as Californian in the UK.  :daumenhoch:

If you are going to buy a Supergoose, get a Gusset Supergoose, best Supergoose in my opinion.

I'd guess around 83 making it a supergoose lll I think.

I maybe wrong but didn't it go like this

1st solid rear drops and gusset frame, flattened chainstay.
2nd stepped rear drops and gusset frame
3rd stepped rear drops with loop tail none gusset and 3 holes on brake bridge

I'm certainly no 'goose expert but that sounds about right to me. Wanting to build a 1st gen for my next project  :smitten:. Though that'll be a while yet at the rate I build  :2funny:
