Title: Bored, so I built this
Post by: billstup on November 04, 2006, 05:20 PM
At long last I`ve built my Gen 1 up  :daumenhoch:

This is the one I had in 1983 :

And this is the one I have now, the start of the build with all the parts :

Getting there :

It`s done :

Parts list :

Haro freestyler Generation 1 frame and fork, serial number TPP 1748 F
Skyway Tuff wheels, Graphite generation 1 front with Campagnolo hubs, coaster rear.
Redline flight cranks, single pinch.
Shimano DX Pedals
GT Pro bars.
GT layback seat post.
Kashimax aero seat.
MX 1000 brakes
Suntour power stem
Dia compe two finger levers.
Dia compe hinged seat post clamp.

No chain yet, but thats because I can`t find it, and I`m just waiting for some red nail varnish to colour the bar ends in  :daumenhoch:

Now that's a nice bike.  Need a drool icon for that one.  I rolled a first gen Haro with Campy Graphites way back.  Removed the rear hub and bolted in a coaster.  Every time I see one of those I remember the first go on it thinking "I'm on a REAL freestyle bike now".

Note to self - must join the long queue of people wanting a Gen1.

Love the build - I managed to bring bits in from the garage yesterday whilst the missus was at the shops and finally build the mini - pics will be put on tonight.

Incidentally Billy are the bar ends plastic push in Grab Ons? If so I have some red ones that are on a bike that I don't need you can have them if you want.

Ah,memories :daumenhoch: well done that man! and you managed to get the seat guts the right way around this time Bill :daumenhoch:
Title: Re: Bored, so I built this
Post by: billstup on November 11, 2006, 07:21 PM
It`s not the seat guts the wrong way round, but for some reason I used a layback seatpost then slid the seat right down it  :idiot2: I was going to do it to this one too, but the seat guts have a tab to stop you sliding it forward so it stayed where it was  :daumenhoch:

Edit: just looked at it again and your right Daz they are the wrong way round:
