That contest was at the Velodrome in 1988, I've got it on video. I think it was actually an ABA freestyle contest, rather than an AFA contest. The 540 across the canyon is awesome, even by todays standards. Dave Voelker had done the same move in his run, but only a couple of feet out, then Dominguez did it twice as high and blew everyone away. Dominguez also did a granny air about 10-11ft out of one of the skinny quarter pipes. Awesome rider.

Nice! So close to re-writing history...
-
It was his second close attempt to a 900 in public, he did exactly the same at the KOV finals in 87 at the Enchanted Ramp, land about 45 degrees short and slid off. He always claimed he'd pulled a few on his own ramp, but no independent confirmation.

hey howard! chris job here.. remember your standard lengthy, you sold it to dave emeny (he was a mate of yours at uni i think, he just got married in china BTW) well his mate rode home pissed left it out the back of his house for 2 months then it was robbed. shame shame shame
back on thread the enchanted 900 was amazing, i have it on vid somewhere.. with grasso's nude run too...
-
Hiya Chris
Yeah I remember the Standard and I remember Dave, glad to hear he's got married. Wasnt he seeing that Chinese girl for a long time? Shame the Standard was nicked, that was a cool bike.
The KOV finals was one of the most incredible contests I've ever seen, Grasso's nude run was pretty funny, but I dont think Hoffman's dad was too impressed ;D
If you've got that on video, it would be cool to get it transferred to DVD, it would be great to see that again. Jason Davies had it on Betamax, but as he's disappeared to the US, I dont think I'll be getting a copy off him any time soon.
Stay well.
