Just heard through the grapevine the Stockport sk8 park is closing in April, the death of another cracking facility. Get down before then and session the bowl and the other ace riding areas..
you only miss somethings when there gone!!!

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where did you hear that?
-
Bones, going?
I thought it was well popular.
-
no way :( although i only went once i was very impressed if it was around here it would be rammo all the time :-\
-
I'll take the mini ramp, if they are splitting! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Let's buy it!!!!!
Perhaps we could have a 'BONES OWNER' tag?!
-
Stodge, was thinking the same thing. It can't be that much.
If we buy it, can we move it south and stick it in one of Dan's fields?
-
are you sure Mike  , that place gets rammed with kids at the weekend and evenings. even to the point where there are gangs of kids just hanging out as if it were youth club.
bad news if it is true, we had better make the most of it while it lasts phil :)
like the idea of buying it and moving it south, well as far south as stoke/stafford
-
ahh shite
shite and fook
shite and fook and muggy c**t
shite and fook and muggy c**t and etc
if it does close we will have to have "last days of bones" jam
-
i will ask when i go down tommorrow.
otherwise we'll have to move the jam to bones in bolton, or maybe that other one with the enormous bowl in bury.
-
Bolton Bones closed ages ago Fruit
-
not there then.
that one in bury, then, or rampworx. or somwhere else.
ill get on the case.
it might just be rumour anyway, theyve only justa altered loads of ramps, which seems wierd if they were gonna shut it down.

it went bankrupt, as the local council would NOT subsidise it as it was privately owned,
if you can get a local council to sponsor a new skatepark it would have a much better chance of survival - difficult !
-
just tried to phone them, but its busy.
this looks good though.

or lease/ rent or buy shares in it. i wonder if the building has been condemnd. The guy said that the gents toilets had been closed down.
what a bag of w*nk
-
Kin L. Must've been bad...the women's were a pretty sorry state!
-
Reliable sources mate, Bones bolton gone a long time ago!! Stockport to follow, just because a place is rammed at weekends and evenings dosent mean its making money. Theres a lot mre factors insurance etc etc..
hope it isnt so but there you go. So get those last minute meets sorted and get down there..
Paul the guy who owns it is a good guy..
-
thats a proper sickner.
great old park to ride.
even if it does leak on you when it rain :'(.
-
got to find another park then up round here
also make sure we find out the closing date and get a "one last session" booked before the roof falls in.
the place is pretty fooked tbh, and it needs a cash injection.
-
i just posted a link to the other park, very near, on the last page.

can we hire it out do you know phil.
you know what us old farts are like when the kids are flying about .
-
Nice looking park that newbie!
-
I dont know dave.
if bones does close, i want to continue riding, so that is a similar distance.
so we should go and have a check of it out one night.
we used to ride bones without a lock in remember........lol
it would be nice if they did..burley interact does lock ins, but i think it may be dearer, and its certainly further, and i want to try to get ridin once a week if i can, so im gonna have to look at riding wherever i can.
-
this is bad new for the northern chapter.....grim.
shame really as its a decent park, this will undoubtedly be because of lack of profits, there isnt many parks that make money.
forget the take over bid, however good a venue it is, you are flogging a dead horse
gutted for you north west boys, still, rom is only 6 miles from my house.
:)
Dave
-
:wtf: we need a new venue or buy the mo fo
-
come to epic sunday mornings, it only takes me a hour and a half to get there
-
Sorry, sorry and sorry once more....... for what i'm about to say.......
This doesn't surprise me one bit. Massive park on two levels full of average (at best) ramps. The bowl is an absolute gem i agree, and you can see that good money was spent there.
But the rest is a bit stale..... without regular rebuilds, structured sessions that pay good money, and another decent form of income, all skateparks in this country are living hand to mouth every week. Its a damn shame, but thats the way it is sadly. As the sport evolves the parks need to keep up and thats getting harder and harder as more parks open.
I'll be sad to see Bones go, I've had some good sessions up there but unfortunately nothing in life stays the same forever :(
It's had a bloody good run though :4_17_5:
-
Thank God for Rom, open 30 years so far :daumenhoch:
-
you can relie on rom it may be wet alot of the year but it wont disappear. :daumenhoch:

bones is a bit of a shit park
but i would session a quarterpipe and trick ramp in a warehouse quite happily all night
i like the convenience of bones - the fact we can rent the whole gaff for a tenner a pop. really relaxed atmos - and not affected by weather
still a 60 mile drive each way for me though.
wish i lived near a place like rom
when the summer comes i will start riding at a local industrial estate like i did last summer. just grass banks, steps n stuff.
-
Bloody shame if its true about our bones. :( would miss it.
I better get organised and get some concrete down in my garden ready for my quarterpipe and trick ramp for summer eh. :)
-
:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
I need to get my extension water tight before i can get slabbing my mini skatepark though. ::)
My 20 foot container is in the way at the mo bru. :(
Not sure if to alter my pipes from 4foot to 5foot or 6foot,what you reckon?? :-\
-
Will do bru, cheers.
Think i will make em 6foot,i'll be putting a new 6foot fence up too,so the neighbours wont see it.Well they'll see the safety bars when its in use,and hopefully me popping up over the fence time to time,ha,ha. ;D
Just wondering if to put a turnstile at my front gate. :LolLolLolLol:
-
sounds good phil
i will come round and ride with you!
whereabouts do you live?
-
is there not the possibility of some sort of regeneration grant available for this, from what i can see is it get kids off the streets and gives them something positive
(never mind us old farts using it) ;D
financial viability is more important in the private sector however if the local government can be pursuaded to cough up, it would be good PR for them. Could be a joint Private/locally funded project.
it wouldnt surprise me if the land/ building has been sold for development >:(
-
keeps the old farts out of the pub... :LolLolLolLol:
-
there could also be cash from lottery funding/sports council(if thats wot its called these days).
or someone can go on that fortune 5 thingy on ITV, and ask for 60K to ensure the long term future of the place. Someone can go on with a BMX and do loads ov tricks in front of em and beg for the cash :D
now i would like to see that on telly
-
Before any Local Authority would get involved it would have to pass a few tests first, like if it was safe, health and safety wise, and had disabled access, working toilets ect, and Bones has got no chance on that score :(
-
H&S wise does it not meet requirements now :-\ wouldnt they have closed it down before now if it didnt.
as for facilities they can be added cheaply to satisfy.
sounds like a bespoke centre is required up the north west...indoor and outdoor park top facilities ;D
-
fook i love that place its bit of drive but better than whats nearer as i dont like works to much .realkly gutted to hear this .was falling apart somewhat though.
-
manchester central skatepark is run by the oldest of old school bmxers, harry (who did defunct) and chris hamer. so please do go along. it's great. and ask them about renting it out after hours, i am sure they would talk to you..
-
we have.
not to sure bones is shutting down actually.
the lease is up for sure, but, from my conversations last night, we will see.
-

-
pm me with prices for a private session. we usually do 9-12. thanks.
-
well i did my bit, been going to bones at least once a week for the past 3 years.
it will be a sad day if it does close. tbh, I dont like central as a "bike park" really.
its always been full of skaters when i've been so that kinda says it all.
Hopefully the new park in the indoor ski place they're building near the trafford centre
will be decent, it opens autumn i think.
at least its nearly spring so the weather should pick up soon and outside parks it will be!
-
chester is a nice little park while i think of it.
bastard to find mind!! :D
blackpool is v. good and of course rampworx.
-
bit too far though, for casual riding.
