-
i rode for the ladies :LolLolLolLol:
-
for me it was just about the riding but someone taking me to places "not all good"
the freebies where handy few bikes just ask for what you need rearly didnt always get it thou
trying a few proto types out .money wise not alot for me in 1985 6 7 .sort of £50 hear and there
some times £100 for some stuff it depended rearly who and what it was for a fare could be £20.
but it was more of a laugh on the road.
-
loads of shit when you didnt win, having to ride with parts you didnt like, having to give bikes back after finishing, good points staying in hotels etc havin a laff, traveling to places never been, getting in to trouble for riding in the freshly cemented pools at hotels, free bmx parts
-
me sister gtgirl or summat on here rode for GT you can see her bringing up the rear of some of the kellogs (not bad considerin she was younger than SJN) Not much in the way of perks really cause me and me brother got the same amount of kit and went to all the UK races she did n we weren't great (i think my seasons best was club no2 to darren reidy) I guess she did get some neat european trips though.

I MANAGAED TO BORROW ONE TO RACE AT BIRMINGHAM NEC WHEN I WORKED AT HALFORDS BITD. GOT THROUGH THE MOTO'S BUT CRASHED IN MY QUATER FINAL >:(
-
we all rode different bikes .i rode a skyway and curtis freestyler, mason smith gen 1 jason scott web vincent mid freestyler specialy made jon was haro gen1 i think nat cant remember.all our parts where top parts as halfords had them back then imported and sold for a while.then it went all pete tong as they started buying crap companies up and we used them.

i just rode :2funny: but was sent the bcf racing top for road racing in 1992 as i was as fast as f#ck back then but i got bored of being a rodie too clicky bmx all the way :daumenhoch:
-
I haven't got any action shots but I can probably dig around and find some riding follow by my money shot !? ;D
-
i rode for southsea skatepark and turned down skyway or prolite not sure which one because pete hawkins never said, i also hated riding tuffs so it would have been a WASTE OF TIME
-
when u rode for southsea skatepark did they give u free food & stickers?
-
I wasn't gonna add to this as I spent my sponsored days as a racer.
Then I remembered I did actually compete in a BFA contest in Nottingham once when I rode for Redline.
-
Thats rad, to have been a racer and also entered some freestyle comps.
like the UKs Brian Foster!
-
As far as I was concerned I got into racing by mistake.
I am and always will be a frustrated "freestyler" who wished he's stuck to it instead of racing!
I even rode in a jam at Derby skatepark a couple of years ago.
Mind you, I didn't do bad on the race scene. :-\
-
Always a frustrated freestyler................

Wished I was younger so I could go and do it all again! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Great shots, the early ones are cool but that last table is full on! Worthy of a "Foster".
Nice one!
-
Ok, this is getting embarrassing now Geth. Your pics prove that you were a better ramp rider than i ever was. Okay, you done really well as a racer, but I won titles as a freestyler. So how embarrassing for me to win titles when a racer who didn't even enter freestyle comps is better than me.... :-[
I think I'll get my coat....
-
Wait untill you see him ride in person Trev :daumenhoch:
-
He's one of my original heroes aswell, from when I first got into BMX.... :4_17_5:
-
nice shots, where are you in the vid'that looks a loverly set up and the bowl at the works is awesome i love it in there.

-
I was far too crap to ever be sponsored except when my mum and aunt both gave me 10p per half mile during a school walk for spastics thing we did in 1981.
-
geth shooter.........rad as fcuk, for a old northerner how cool is he

That video is from Point X Camp in California. A few miles north of San Diego.
The place is/was amazing. I say was cos I've just looked for their website and it doesn't exist anymore.
Maybe it closed? A pity if it did but it was in the middle of nowhere out in the desert!
I'll post some pics in another thread.
That bowl at The Works is one of my faves along with the bowl at Epic. Perfect size and transitions for me.

Thanks but, :-[ :-[

Nice one!
No comparison to Foster at all. One of my favourite EVER riders. Most racers are not really interested in pushing anything on their bikes and would rather be pushing weights in the gym! ;D
Says you anyway with some of the best ramp tricks!
AND you rode for S&M :smitten:
If I could have half of the mini ramp tricks you got I'd be happy! Now where's my front brake....
-
nice wallride at redditch geth :daumenhoch:
-
nice wallride at redditch geth :daumenhoch:
Well spotted!
-
geth shreds bmx, be it racing or park or trails :daumenhoch:
i think some of the younger riders should take a leaf out of his book and try a bit of everything :)

There's also Sara-Jane Nicholls. Although hasn't been on here for ages, is still a registered member.

Hi Dan
If it is Jon that knocked about with Mason and had a real quality touch, he had a Gen 2 Master and the bike I restored and gave back to him last year.
PS, did you ride with Bombie - he had a Prolite CC? - that is on my list to get restored this year!
