I recon Retrogeezers Chrome one is quite a good vintage.
Jay's Yellow one is old too.
-
Hi
I know of a yellow one that is still about and that was early 84 at the latest, I'll get pics sometime.
It was PB's (same chap as the MRD) and was one of the first out of his mums shop.
What year did they start?
Thanks
greentoad

I believe they started production in Feb/March 84...
Pete (Quadrophenia) - do you know for sure?
-
Dave how olds Gerry's stripped one?? Thats an oldie is it not?

Think Gerry's one is an 85 and the chrome one Pete was riding a couple of weeks back was a Dec 84.
-
There must be loads of those around, they were so popular...That one of yours is a bit delicious mate, very nice!
Are you styling this evening incidentally??

Not a silly question at all - the serial number is stamped into the drop-out. What i mean by un-stamped is where normally GT's are stamped 'GT' in the end of the top tube, mine is not, as are alot of early pro performers.
-
Oh im getting you now moose ;D dumbass me :-[ and hows about mine then it has gt stamped everywere :-\
-
retro you sod
thats stunning pal

-
Oh I think I have a contender.
I bought my chrome performer around April 84 and I still have it.
I remember gagging for one and pre ordered mine from Stechford Cycles in Brum. I'll check the chassis number when I get chance (it's all packed neatly away). They were released early 84 definately.
-
theres more of these things than streetbeats. i think i'll start taking the p1ss out of em ;).

Yeah but not as many GREEN ones ;)
-
they were'nt cool enough to come in green ;).
-
Well I can't find the number on mine, think its been powdered over. But it is Stamped, so I guess its not really old.
-
Here's a pic of mine before I packed it away. Exactly as it was when I hung it up in 86.
I need to have a tidy up!!

get the dust off it and get to bones ;).
-
Retro, you didn't answer the question about the forks. Are they the correct, as they look like normal GT forks. I have some of those which I could use on my performer, if they are correct. Cheers, Ad

I'm on the case Dordy!!!
-
Sorry Ad!
Yeh, the guy mine came from said that was how it came new.......some of the old pics show Fiola riding one with race forks too.......I think he preferred them.
The rear dropouts on mine are also the same as race ones I think...just with an F stamped on them so the welders knew which frame to put them on!

Seriously, I know Pete's a good guy...but backing off something...nah! ;D ;) :D

SOOOOO, Stodgy, would a "true" Fiola replica, have race forks :-\ ;) Oh my god, lets start a real "Fiola" debate. Oh, by the way, anyone want to buy a performer with "true" Fiola forks?????? ;D
