do the old school freestyle tyres (comp st's?) offer the same sort of grip as a v monster or double v - that sort of newschool tyre?
i dont recall them being slippy BITD, but then i dont recall mags being wobbly either >:(
can someone recommend a half decent OS tyre to go for?
-
comp st on the ricky, they slipped, but they are old. ive got some wwhite beat tyres im gonna try on tuesday. i seriously have my doubts that they will be as good as new tho. rubber is not the best thing and doesnt age well. fine for show bikes......
-
spose your right, about the ageing thing
plus v monsters (or an equiv) are pretty cheap.
what about those all slick tyres with no pattern?
saw a few of them on bikes at KOC this year
-
tiaga pool? i thought about them.
but at the end of the day, san has given me these white tyres, otherwise i would have bought nu skool.
im not so arsed that i have to have everything period correct on my rider.
and if it stops me bailing again im all for it.
-
i too am not too fussed about correctness
i mean, i will use old school parts where i can, but the bike needs to be rideable. that usually means NS bars brakes tyres and seat.
dont wanna be sittin on a razor blade (in yorkshire accent)
-
i was right about that seat tho.........
-
LOL you gotta have been born before 74 to get that ;)
-
get some of them new michelin white walls they are well grippy
ask dave 80's bloke the noise they make as you turn lol
you can hear em gripping lol
-
they sqweeked on the concrete at rom....proper grippy....shame they dont come in 20 x 2.1, and take 100 psi or wed all have em
Dave
-
surely if a tire squeeks its because its loosing traction and starting to slide, in a very slight, vibrating, way.
You dont get tire squeel in a car unless your loosing grip.
-
the ol' tyre debate continues...
-
graeme...fook me how fast do you think i was going around rom...doin burnouts and sending the arse end out...lol......i meant sqeeky like when you rub a kittens nose on a window...
has nobody else done that
i'll get me coat
Dave
-
lmao thats two of us then....
-
Yeah, i know whta you mean. Same thing aplies though, if its squeeking its loosing and gaining traction, repetedly, very quickly, hence the squeek.
If you rubbed a kittens nose on a window what would it do? It would slide, then grip, then slide, then grip, in fast succession, making a vibrating squeek.

and the pitiful mewling noise
