i've seen billy ride a fair bit over the last 6/7 months.  he does get some big air. BUT, i've seen a lot of pics of Dan from BITD.  Billy has got some big tricks, but does not have that raw aggresion his old man had.  The main difference is that nowdays (or even when i rode in the mid 80's) is that we had heros to aspire to, and it was them that set the limits.  Back when Dan, Bill Stupps & Pat rode, there were no limits set, so they set their own.  You don't get many people jumping like Dan did because only a very select few nowadays have the nerve and bottle to push riding to the limits.  The majority of the time you will only find people trying what the pioneers have already achieved.  I've seen pics of Dan riding at Rom, riding some very strange lines, very difficult lines, that i've never seen anyone else do...EVER....  The reason is that back then they never realised how difficult it is.  You don't know how difficult something is until it's been tried by someone.

A lot of people really under estimate exactly what people like Dan, Billy Stupple & Pat did for BMX.  I for one am really proud of the fact that I know and ride with some of the original pioneers of BMX.  They truly are legends of the sport and as long as BMX exists they should be recognised.  Throughout the life of the sport you will get some great riders like Mat Hoffman, Dave Mirra, Scotty Cranmer etc, but they have merely pushed the limits of their predecessors.  Our guys didn't have any predecessors, everything they tried was fresh and new and from their own minds.  Legends of BMX  :daumenhoch:

Blimey Trev, a real post, not a raffle, not a laughing Jerry but a real, to the point response. And i totally agree with you, only one thing about Dan and boundries, he used to jump over the boundries at RoM, he cleared the fekking fence.... :4_17_5:
