i ain't forgiven him for beating me on ramps once at a comp (he beat me every time - but this one time was gutting). i got 2nd on ramps but got 1st on flat and 1st overall.  it was the closest i ever got to getting a treble...  >:(

I ain't forgiven him for not wanting to get involved in an indoor vert ramp I was building. At the time, one of only two in the entire country.

"I can't be bothered - I'd rather let someone else do the work, then I'll just come and ride it"

Lame.    Suffice it so say, he never did ride it   ;)

Still, a nice fella and tasty 900s  :)

i always found him as a top bloke. back in the UKBFA days we were in the same age group. he was always the best on ramps and never made a big deal out of it. i haven't spoken to him now for about 17 years but would be good to meet him again.

I've met him subsequently a few times and he's always been ok.  Plus his wife is fairly easy on the eye...   Just never could get my head around his lack of enthusiasm for an indoor vert ramp   ???

I for one was happy that you built it, much fun

Now then.....  who is this?   :)

I'm guessing its No-Legs Nick?    I'm struggling to think of another Nick who rode there....  Did you ride with Jeff the Elbow and Spinky??

Or am I just making up random nicknames   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

i'm sure david frame rode in your age too, and spanked tabron at pretty much every contest.
his riding was good until around '98, then it became great.

Hey buddy, small world indeed.

I'm one of the owners of Charlton. I ride there most Wednesdays. Thursdays are a bit hardcore for me...

I've been riding vert at Skaterham on a Monday night too, if you can get round there?

I'm out of action for a few months - knee rebuild - but I'm sure we'll catch up sometime   :)

Welcome to RAD   ;)

Thanks, I've been reading old posts all day, and picked up you were involved.

Get well soon, at least it's the winter :)

Quite fancy Skaterham, not sure I still have the balls for vert

Tabron? or No Legs Nick?   ;D

Now, I'm not gay or owt, but I did start to get tired of Pippa's bangers constantly out on display when she first started coming to comps and stuff.

She's a cutie though for sure   :)

Simon Tabron........don't get me wrong, great rider!

However, I've never met him but there's just something I don't like. I'm sure he really is a nice guy but he just seems such a snobby, spoiled little smug git!

From what you've said Rob I may not be that far from the truth, had he have said that to me if I was building a quarterpipe I'd have sent him away with a fooking flea in his ear!

But then again, I could be miles off and he could be an absolute top geezer. I'd like to think I'm wrong anyway!

Yeah, took me a bit by surprise.  He was living in London at the time, and the only indoor vert ramp at the time was in Northampton (Radlands) and that had less headroom than my barn.....

I can only assume he didn't think I was serious, or he thought I was just in it to grab a few quid - exploit the kids and all that crap.

Like I say, met him subsequently and he's always been cool.  Who knows. Maybe he was just having a bad day.....

Simon is spot on.

As I said mate, I'm sure and hope that he is. I've never met the guy and I desperately try not to prejudge people before I've met them so that's probably wrong on my behalf but I was just being honest.

I hope one day I'll meet him and he turns out to be really cool and then I'll be happy but I think what he said to Rob when he was building the ramp was out of order. BMX is like a family and I'm pretty sure most would have been narked by him saying what he said and thought to them selves......"Well you won't be riding this ramp then if that's your attitude mate"

Just being honest.  ;)

Daz.

got to know simon and pippa quite well when making the bristol cider riders video 'bcr on the vcr'-had to spend so much time over in bristol ( 3 times a week for a good few months). simon, jason davies and all the bcr crew were great, not just in the riding sense but also sound people to hang out with too. simon also spent a lot of time in wales whilst making 'tidy' in 1999, riding skate extreme's vert ramp and various comps i was filming. arranged some last bits of filming with him at yate concrete park (just before he moved to cornwall) for steve b's clicked videomag too. good to see how far he's gone with his riding.

had a recent bcr on the vcr reunion piss up in bristol. over 40 types of cider. mmmmmm. jason davies was supposed to fly over for the week but didn't show and simon was stateside at one of the comps. some key members didn't make it but a lot of bristol riders did.

old schoolers.  l to r. leon rudge, ira rainey, paul brown, jason hill (shandy bass)

we had such a good time and plenty of catching up to do we intend to hold another  sumtime, hopefully with all the original cast........................
