This has been a real struggle to get together so far, but its getting there.
i still need:
white mushroom grips
skyway frame pads
whitewalls
ive got decals sorted. need to change a few bits brake wise and pedals but i went out on it today, and i remember the view!
rode surprisingly nice!
it will be a real mish mash of parts when done, but thats how it was.
my last bike, that i worked up to by swapping, trading, restoring begging and borrowing, before i passed my bike test, at 17.
seems strange having it back as i never thought id be able to source it.

thats exactly it.
ill update the thread until it evolves into the monster it was.
completly low end, but high end in comparison to the burners that me and me mates had at the time.
anyone know what it is?

anyone know what it is?
Is it a Stormer?
-
no.
id be interested to see a pic if you haveone though.
-
Is it a rebel? or as a long shot alternative, a vincent ???
The more I look , I like though :)
-
At a guess and without any research ( :LolLolLolLol:) I'd say a Hyper, but I'm probably well wrong :LolLolLolLol:
-
yep. your all wrong so far.
considering that when i bought the frame in the early 80's, and it was brush painted in gloss black paint, with no decals or makers name, you can see how hard it has been to find another......and why i had such a mish mash of parts on it...
-
Foxbat?
-
i concur....foxbat

yep! cigars all round!

do you still need white mushrooms?
i have a set that have been soaking in bleach for about a month :)
-
thats oldschool :daumenhoch: im doing the same with my bike from bitd, all the same bits but different colours, built it up once near enough how i had it and took it out hoping it would bring back some of the magic i used to be able to pull off but id got used to my haro sport by then and it just felt shit :LolLolLolLol:

I'm trying to do the same with my bike from BITD too. I have lots of the parts I used to have but i'm missing the two vital ingredients, frame and forks. :LolLolLolLol:
HRD

they would help :LolLolLolLol:
-
what f+f is it?
-
Chrome T/A
-
ah.

That's so cool....
I want to bring back my bike from bitd now.... only problem is, I reckon it'd be impossible.... not seen a gusseted MCS Magnum frame since mine, the unstamped Landing gear I got after busting my tange tx1200's would cost a good few quid, and the 9 million piece Ame grips I had I never saw anywhere else even then.....then you got mx1000 with dx lever and terrycable to find, robinson pro or cw pro bars (depending on which version I was reincarnating)..... even the blue 2.125 snakebelly front and 1.75 whitewall shopper rear would be a challenge.....

well the biggest challenge has been remebering which parts i had on it!
i didnt know what the frame was, until i described it and one of the lads on here put me right about it.
i didnt know what decals i had on it, until i spotted them on another bike in the museum. frosty has sorted me out with those now.
there are still bits that i dont remember, but the funny thing is, as i build it, clean it etc, my brain jumps back 25 years, and remembers another bit , thanks brain!
ive got some big problems with chrome though. it seems at some point someone has welded lugs to the rear, then removed them....well thats the only way i can explain the heat marks on the seat stays.
ill take some photo's later.

Good job so far Phil :coolsmiley:
Divot gave me the basis for a replica of my first bmx bike at MK and you have inspired me to make a start on it
Cheers
:) DINGO :)
-
what was it dingo?
-
Just a cheap bottom of the range Giant with chrome steel wheels ect but my brother bought it me using the christmas club method and he was 16 and in his first year at work at the time so looking back he realised how much a "real" BMX meant to me and wnet out of his way to get it for me so I wanna build this one exactly the same and give it to my nephew
:) DINGO :)
-
so it was all presumably original spec then....
