Great pics!
I dont remember that ramp, i was part of the southend riding crew, so i remember Lee Hook, Scott Turner and a dark skinned fella called paul. I visited the QP's in ashingdon a few times, at the end of a very long road up the top of ashingdon rd. And also the one up against a small leisure centre on Ashingdon road.
I think i got my first car summer 87 so wasnt riding much by then.

Yes, I rode with Lee, Scott and Paul.
Lee Hook unfortunately passed away in 2000.
The QP's were at the top of Clifton Road, Ashingdon. When the land was reclaimed by the builders, I badgered the council everyday for weeks and they gave us a bit of land at a park near Rochford. We built a 16ft wide, 9ft tranny with probably 16ft flat bottom halfpipe. It lasted a couple of years, got cut into a mini ramp, then demolished.
The one in Ashingdon park, was built to the specs in the Bob Haro manual, and we used to put it on skateboards and wheel it back to my mates (Louis Child, still a good skater) garage.

Yeh Nick, i had heard about Lee from another old rider mate of mine......i liked Lee, its a real shame.
Louis Child, now thats a name i aint heard in a while. How is he?
I was riding in the early 90's while he was skating at Leigh-on-Sea, used to get on well with him....real nice mellow dude is Louis.
Another name thats just come back to me: Spooner maybe Ian? Long time ago now mate.
So you ride Charlton on thursdays then? I ride it on wednesdays with TwoBob and crew, i am not quite ready for thursdays.........yet! ;)
Great to see you are riding again Nick, look forrward to meeting you.....again? We must have crossed paths BITD?

I never knew Lee Hook but it's always sad to hear of yet another BMXer passing away.
Sorry to hear that dude.
This pic of him at Rom rocks by the way! It rocks for anytime yet alone back then!

I didn't know Ian Spooner very well, but I think you'll find him on the far left of the platform. I think he went to America. I seem to think he has also passed away.

This is Ian Bannister in 1984, in his back garden.
I haven't seen Louis for about 9 years, Ian spoke to him a month or so ago, he's still skating.
Thursdays for about the last month, very good fun
Sure we must of ridden together in the past
