Old School Series BMX Racing Website.
The latest results, news and info can be found here.
http://www.ossbmxracing.co.uk
Latest Updates
29/02/08 OSWS07 Scottish Region Final Results Table
29/02/08 OSWS07 South Region Final Results Table
Work In Progress
*** This page will be amended and this section will be removed once the website is working fully.
If the organisers of the Old Schools series want up-to-date results then they can PM or email the results to me after each race. I will try to get the results up as quickly as possible. Please check the results once I have posted them. If there are any errors, it's best to sort them out sooner rather than later.
Once http://bmx-recollection.com is fully working, I will add new features to the OSS BMX Racing site.
Possible Features :-
News
Riders Profiles Mugshots, Bikes etc, etc
Track Information
Race Videos
Race Pictures
Stuff like that. If anyone has any ideas then LMK.
If anyone has Videos and Pictures of the races. Then please contact me and LMK how to download your videos and pics so that I can upload it to this website.
Thanks

I will answer that post which has been removed.
I cant remember all of his points but...I'll try my best.
I didn't not know there was an OSS website up already. I found out when I checked ratty's profile after I started this Topic.
I checked this website and it looked like no-one had posted since August.
If I had known about this other website I would still have started this one.
Forums are databases, Pure and Simple. The trouble with Forums is things get lost, people have to bump pages to get them seen again.
Of course, there are ways around this. You could stick Topics and you can try and do a search.
But also people reply to topics which clutter them up. There are ways around this also!!
The domain name ossbmxracing cost me £6.09 for 2 years. The health benefits alone of 2 pints less over a year's worth of boozing might just be the edge that gets me in front of dibly at that finishing line and the £6.09 it cost is hardly going to leave me penniless.
Now I might be talking out of my ass. I know very little about Website etc, etc. I may use them but thats it.
I think a website would get picked up by search engine a lot easier than a forum,
With the Olympics coming up and a renewed interest in the sport, I thought that another website dedicated to BMX wouldn't harm and might even promote this sport,
unless you want this OSS racing all to yourself and you don't wish to promote it and generate new (but older) riders.
My intentions for this website are not grand by any means. There will be no forum, although it will link to this one.
I would like over time, for this site to have the results for all OS Races. I am willing to update the site after every race if people are willing to email the results to me.
I would like Rider info with maybe a picture and a picture of a bike and maybe comment or two. This will only ever be changed if that person sends me the information to change.
All pictures and videos for races can be stored on this site. A central location for anyone who might seek this content or has lost it.
Track information would just be links to other tracks websites.
Once this information is up then there is not much to do with the site. Updating results is a piece of cake. Rider Bio's will hardly ever change. And if they want them changed then they'd have to send me thier new info.
The news section is probably the most time consuming. But mostly this will be a list of race dates and maybe a few "Cancellations" or whatever.
None of this is particularly hard or time consuming.
This website will not compete with this forum. I don't want it to.
There will be no user input. Its basically a photo album. An information store.
There will be no user interaction. I wasn't even going to put an email address on it.
I want it to be central store of information about OSS racing.
Without this website. All this information is going to be spread all over the place and it will be difficult to find.
Trawling through replies to find that bit of info your looking is the reason for this website.
No comments, no replies. Just info.
A list of race results for each region
A list of pictures for each region by date
A list of videos for each region by date
Simple as that.
So if the person who wrote that comment thinks it will die on its arse. Then thats okay!
If only two people visit this site a month and they find what they are looking, then its worth it.
If your telling me that if you wanted to find all the videos and pics for race 4 in the North region winter series is easy to find, then I disagree. If you know this forum then you could find it quite quickly, but then you'd have links to Photobucket and links to youtube etc, etc. Some of which might not work in the future.
Photos for the race could be by 3 different people. There might be 2 camcorders.
If you had all this content in one area then where is the downside, its all good.
It's not mean't to replace this forum, it's mean't to aid this forum in allowing OS Riders and anyone else interested in this sport to see what is going on without having to find it.
In 3 years time you'll be able to look back and see what happened 3 years ago and see how far the OSS has grown and progressed in that time.
I am out £6.09. Whether I continue with this website or not, I am still out £6.09.
So I am going to continue.
If people don't send me the results then the results don't get updated. Its as simple as that. I'm not going to trawl around this Forum looking for them.
Although I will keep the North Region OSS Results up to date because I am going to race in the summer series.
I hope this has answered some of his concerns.
Sorry about this size of this sprawling message. I might have repeated myself a few times as well.
Hopefully you get the point. If you don't I'll have to write another one!!! ;D
Thank you
P.S. As this is a forum. This topic is open to debate. Whether it is pro or con. Please dont feel the need to delete your replies. I am not soft skinned and I am fully aware that I could p'ss people off. If your arguement is valid then make your point and stand by it.

Moley, its a great idea, yes Bruce "Haro OS Boy"started an OSS website for us all last year, he did a great job, but as he said at the time he would not be able to keep it updated due to his own workload.
There is room for more than one OSS website, personally I think we should all have a choice and I will still support both.
If you are able to put the time in Moley then the site will be a cool asset to the OSS, especially as this is the year we managed to gain recognition at regional level :daumenhoch:
I never read the deleted post on here, so perhaps someone can pm me with the details ::)
Any pictures I have personally posted I own the copyright on and I am happy for you to reuse them on your site if you wish, Im sure the other picture posters will also be cool (a pm goes a long way).
Good luck with the site, and just shout if you need any assistance :daumenhoch:
-
ratty
it was me again :-X
i deleted my reply
as i thought my comments were unjust/unfair
i wasnt looking for an argument or to knock moley for trying to start the website
just stating the demise of the last attempt @ an OSS site
a central base for all things OSS is a fine idea
moley
all the best success with the OSS website :daumenhoch:
-
Hi Steve, by the sounds of it your reply was a fair comment, Im sure Bruce will agree running a web site is hard work and takes a lot of time to do it justice, as I said I will support both sites, theres room enough out there, and spreading the BMX word is what its all about :daumenhoch:
Oh Steve, hope you polished your Quad ready for the first round, it wont be the same without you there :daumenhoch:
-
Moley, what a cracker of an idea mate! It is very hard trying to find info all over the place. :daumenhoch:
And as for you STEVE!!!................................................ Where you been hiding mate? Are you coming out to play this summer? ???
-
I have to sort out the Magazine Download site first before the other one stops downloading again.
I'm concentrating on getting the content working first. Tarting it up so it looks pretty will come last.
Once that is sorted I'll start on the OSS site.
I didn't take it as knock, V.Noah. The other website needed interaction. Thats why it didn't work. All the action is in this Forum. If you try splitting the audience then you'll lose out and the other will win. Plus it needed to be updated constantly. I'm not going down that route. I want it just as a Knowledge Base with easy to update features that anyone could do.
In the meantime, I will keep any race results up-to-date on the OSS Site if people would email the results to me.
I will ask people for thier permission to use thier videos and pictures when I get around to doing OSS site.
Please make sure every race is filmed from now on. It will be interesting to see how much people improve over the coming months/years
Hopefully it will chart the decreasing waistlines of the competitors as well ;D
You might have noticed I have www.freestylebmx.co.uk domain as well.
Thats also going to be up after I have sorted out my Magazine Download site and the OSS site. All of the freestyle stuff from the mags and any other freestyle stuff I can lay my hands on will be put on it.
I might have taken on bit too much. But I'm getting a handle on this HTML stuff.
Thanks for the support, I appreciate it.

Summer Results are now up on the site.
North Region Round 1
and
South Region Round 1
If someone gives me the full results of Round 2 from the South Region then I will update those too.
Check it out here at http://www.ossbmxracing.co.uk
-
Notice for All OSS Regions.
Scotland
North
Midlands
Nottingham
South
and any other OSS Races too including 'One Off' meets.
PM the results to me in this format as its easier to check the results and keep errors to a minimum.
Name, RADBMX Name, Plate No, Position, Points
If you omit the Points then I will work out the Points according to Position based on 50 for 1st and 47 for 2nd and 44 for 3rd etc, etc all the way down to nil points if your number of riders is large enough
If its a Double Points round then LMK that as well.
I will then be able to update the results without too much hassle.
Check out the format by viewing the North and South Region 2008 Results Tables
http://www.ossbmxracing.co.uk
If there are any errors to the tables then please LMK as soon as possible so that it can be rectified.
If you have any queries and/or suggestion to improve this system them please LMK.
Thanks

Gutted mate, really gutted. :-\
is it your back? or you got commitments?
-
Backs still a pain but the main reason is I've been working 6 days a week and thn to bugger off to race on Sundays 3 weeks on the trot is a bit much for the wife. :(
-
Can anyone fill in the missing RADBMX ID's, Names and Plates etc, etc and I'll sort those out when I get home tonight too!!
-
Updated the South Region Round 2 Results and changed Thingy to RATTY.
I'm sure he does these things to test me ;)
I have added 2 new information sections which can be added to and changed if needed.
One is the OS Scoring which shows how the points system works.
The other is the OS Rules Section.
Everyone take a good look at these and ALL the results tables.
If there are any errors and/or missing names, plate #'s, RADBMX ID's etc, etc then please speak up and I will amend them.
If anyone has any information for OS Racing that should be displayed on this site. e.g. Rules, News etc, etc then LMK and I will add it.
All other regions will be added once they finish their First Round. I Also hope all the other Regions are using the same Points System as the North and South Regions.
South Regions Round 3 Results will be updated on Monday/Tuesday Night. I'm going on a bender to Benidorm and I wont be back until Monday Night at the earliest.
If I have time I will update the Results, If not I will update on Tuesday.
Please PM the results to me in this Format ONLY.
NAME, RADBMX ID, PLATE #, POSITION
I dont mind updating the results but giving me a list of names which is incomplete, wrong or hard to understand is not part of my job description. (That means you RATTY) :LolLolLolLol:
If you make my life easier then I will be only to happy to keep these results up to date.
This is going to be a good year for OS Racing!!!
So everyone make the effort and enjoy yourself.
Good Luck!!!

Please remember to PM the results in this format.
Name, RADBMX ID, Plate #, Position
Thanks
-
come on wheres round 3 wana see if ive moved up the table
:LolLolLolLol:
-
I'll get the results up as soon as RATTY decides to PM them to me.
If you don't want to use your names because your wanted by the police, CSA or the MOB then I wont use them.
I want to try and make the OS Racing look a bit more professional and respectable.
I know everyone thinks its just a laugh and they dont take it seriously which BTW is complete BULLSHIT!!!!
I've only been in 1 race and when I took fruity on the last corner and was coming up on Greg in the 3rd Moto before he closed the door, you all know that competitive edge kicks in.
It doesn't matter whether you win or you come last. But it sure does matter if the chap you usually beat pips you to the line.
Also after a few races etc, etc, I might be able to generate some STATS to show how riders are improving or falling off the pace.
I will update the other rounds at the same time. I am still short of a few details on the riders.
Paul Rungay is Rooonga
Any one know the names and plates for these OS Racers?
Sonic
Glendower
KGBMatt
Longun
Shereen
And Plate # and Surname for Matt AKA Humps.
Who came first Humps or Humps00?
Are they brothers or Father and Son or totally unrelated?
-
I'm Steve Davidson - Plate #50
-
Nice One Steve!!
Come on people, have you forgot who you are?
-
Great job your doing. 214 Dean SANSOM :D
-
RATTY has PM'd the results to me.
Paul Coleman Quadpaul #40 50 points
Lee Saunders Hooga #75 47 points
Sam Wonfor Nishiki 14 #?? 44 points
Dean ?? Diamond Dean #??? 41 points
tony waye ratty #27 38 points
Simon \Crocher Crooch #?? 35 points
Steve Earl SE #?? 32 points
Peter Wallis Ammaco Pete #?? 29 points
Ian Poole elopnai #??? 27 points
The problem is they dont match the Points Structure that he gave last week that I thought was completely sorted and done with. ???
The structure he gave last week would have Ammaco Pete on 30pts and Eloopnai on 28pts (which they aren't).
I've PM'd RATTY and see we'll see if the points structure is wrong or he is!!!!!!
We'll get there in the end.......................Hopefully!!!! :daumenhoch:
-
The Table has been updated so you can check it out.
The problem with the scores hasn't been settled yet and it might affect all 3 rounds if the Points System is wrong again!!!!
-
Moley i think this has something to do with whether points are added for motos - as there was only 9 riders this weekend i dont think you get points for motos.
previous 2 meetings we had more riders 15 and 18 i think...
of course i could have it completely wrong but thats what Rooonga told me at the weekend...
-
AAAAArrrrrrgggggghhhh!!! I thought we sorted this out last week!!!!
I honestly dont have a clue about all of this. I have never raced BITD. I have had 1 OS Race and nobody knew how the scoring worked!!!!
I have never added points for motos. I didn't know there was any points for motos.
The way I thought it went was down to the finals. Where everybody had to race a final.
If you had 3 finals A, B and C
50 pts A1 1st
47 pts A2 2nd
44 pts A3 3rd
41 pts A4 4th
38 pts A5 5th
35 pts A6 6th
32 pts A7 7th
30 pts A8 8th
28 pts B1 9th
26 pts B2 10th
24 pts B3 11th
22 pts B4 12th
20 pts B5 13th
18 pts B6 14th
16 pts B7 15th
14 pts B8 16th
12 pts C1 17th
10 pts C2 18th
8 pts C3 19th
6 pts C4 20th
4 pts C5 21st
2 pts C6 22nd
2 pts C7 23rd
2 pts C8 24th
And 2 pts for anyone else who raced
This is what RATTY Originally PM'd me
The points are structured on the regional system that we used last year 50,47,44,41,38,35,32,30,28,26 etc
After that I asked around and started a topic to find out if anyone knew the correct scoring system!!!!
Nobody answered me.
If you want points for motos then thats fine. But I don't think anyone remembers their Motos and all the finishing positions.
Do the Track officials keep track of all the scores?
Do they have a website where I can view them?
Somebody somewhere has to define the Scoring System. That way all OS Riders know whats happening.
No more guessing!!! No more I heard this or that!!!
If its based on an existing scoring system then Post a link to them or post their details!!!
Lets get this sorted out now and then its over and done with.
Then everyone can concentrate on the Racing an not be concerned whether their points tally is correct or not.
Can I order '1 Points Scoring System for Old School BMX Racing (All Regions/All Races)' to go please!! :daumenhoch:
Thank you
P.S. Updating the Results tables is easy. I wish working out which are the correct scores was too!!!
-
i was hoping the motos counted towards points as i came 4th in one race :4_17_5:
there was only 5 in the race though :LolLolLolLol:

Tied points are decided by the placing in the final race :daumenhoch:

And Plate # and Surname for Matt AKA Humps.
Who came first Humps or Humps00?
Are they brothers or Father and Son or totally unrelated?
For the record, there is me, "Humps00" who is Alan Humphrey and I race #00. Matt Humps is my eldest son who I put out in the OS group at Hersden to spice things up a bit and to 'flex' the rules a bit as he's 17 years old, 6'3" and been racing for about eight years. He uses my '94 HAWK which is OS legal in that it has a 1" threaded and cantilever brake. He races #21.
Humps (the one and only Humps00)
-
Okay Humps00.
You and your lad are updated.
Waiting for RATTY to sort the scoring out and then I can upload to the website. :daumenhoch:
Just need these 4 to fill in their details
Sonic
Glendower
KGBMatt
Shereen
Name, RADBMX ID and Plate Number.
If anyone is racing in the next round or is planning to race in any of the rounds then send your details and I'll add you to the list.
That way, I've got a head start!!!!

Bradford was scored like this?
A1 50

B1 35

The scoring system is now sorted (Finally).
There is a slight change. I had the first 7 riders separated by 3pts and it should have been the first 8 riders separated by 3 pts and then the rest separated by 2pts down to a minimum or 2pts.
I will change the scores of the North and South Regions tonight when I get home.
I will try to make sure there are no more mistakes.
If anyone suspects anything is incorrect then please LMK as soon as possible so there are no problems later in the series.

North and South Points are now updated using the correct scoring system.
The scores for those who came 8th and lower are affected by being deducted 1 point.
The only positional change to both North and South Regions are Humps and Ammaco Pete, who have swopped places in the South Region.
Sorry about the cock up but its all sorted now and it will be forever until the end of time (I hope)!!!!
Check out http://ossbmxracing.co.uk for the the results and finalised scoring system.
Thanks :daumenhoch:

We managed over 30 riders at Hersden last year, the biggest turn out except MK, I hope we get some meets as big as that this year :daumenhoch:
-
Its going to be a good year. I can feel it in my bones!!!
Bradford had a great turn out.
I have persuaded creamy to race this sunday.
We have just finished building his DP Firebird Delta II tonight.
The brakes suck and he's carrying 18-19 Stone of Lard. I hope nobody gets in his way!!! :LolLolLolLol:
Another couple of lads might be tempted to race in later rounds.
So its looking good for the North Region although a few riders will be missing this sunday.
Hopefully the Scottish Region will increase its rider base too. I just uploaded their Results table ready for their 1st round next week.
All I need now is to learn how to ride a bike!! :daumenhoch:

Is the racing at MK on the Saturday, Sunday or both days?
If it's on Saturday, I might race MK on Sat and then do the regional at Bournemouth on the Sunday.

Its usually on Sunday Mike :-\
-
That's a shame. Dunno when I'm gonna get a chance to ride the Challenger as all the OS races seem to clash with regionals and nationals this year.
-
We did plan it so we could attend regionals, race OSS and proper regional races. Theres still Hersden Mike :daumenhoch:

Zippy had only just PM'd the results at 10:22 pm tonight

South Region Results for Round 9 at MK (06/07/2008) are now up.
Somebody check them and LMK if anything needs changing. :daumenhoch:
North Region has not been updated because the Official Results haven't been posted
and the Scottish region haven't PM'd their results!!! :(
-
Scottish Region Round 5 Results are up!!
South Region Rankings (A Running total with 5 Rounds Dropped) are now up on the site.
They should mirror the results in Crooch Topic!!!
If there are problems then LMK and I'll sort it out!! :daumenhoch:
Official North Region Results for Round 6 still haven't been put up.
There was a lot of confusion over names and plates not matching by the commentators so I reckon they fooked it up.
If they haven't sorted it out by the next round. I'll use the DVD's to work out everyones placings!!! :daumenhoch:
-
Slight problem with the South region rounds is that some of the Hersden riders aren't eligible for points in the OSSS and have taken points off the eligible riders. Does that make sense. Best off speaking to Crooch. :daumenhoch:
-
North Region Results are up (Unofficial)
Also a North Region Ranking table is also up like the South's Ranking Table.
It shows a running total with 3 rounds dropped already!!
Smoothie and Dirk are tied in 1st Place!!!
-
Hi Moley, as Zippy says my points shouldn't be in the table ... not a bona fide member of the OSSS this year, haven't paid my dues and all that ... this seasons about fun for me .... looking forward to '09 though.
-

Its up in the air at the moment.
They are having some talks about it.
I only put the scores up that they tell me to put up.
They'll LMK whats happening in due time and then I'll change whatever needs changing!!!
Get some details filled out and a picture done so we can see what a lean mean racing machine you are!!! :daumenhoch:
The thread is on here giving the details on how to do it!!!
-
Ok will have a lookie later, day off, list of things to do off the missus, and spent all afetrnoon/evening on here yesterday, so get in trouble if i don't do my jobs....then cinderella wont get to go to daggers!!!!
Has been interesting to see my place in the rankings from a couple of races though. I'll try to update my profile later.
Cheers, Mate.
-
little thought, have not got a clue how to do it, BUT, if mr postman does his job properly i should be taking delivery today of dvd of sunday's final ... if anyones interested in it, talk me through what to do and i'll try to post it up. Thats of course unless i watch it and think i look silly, then it stays uner wraps :LolLolLolLol:
-
Got the DVD, if anyones interested, as above, talk me through it and i'l try to get it posted up??
18 seconds of fun!!
-
Is it a movie clip (a PC File) like .avi .mov et, etc or is it a DVD you can play on your DVD player through the TV?
-
a dvd to play on a dvd player
-
That makes it more difficult to guide you!!!! :(
Is it a full dvd with loads of races. And you want just a small clip from it?
-

-
The Final Results and Ranking Table for the Scottish Region is now up!!
Well done lads!! :daumenhoch:
-
I updated my website and stuck an OS Brits table on it.
I also updated the South Regions Points and Rankings.
The South Region table only has Placings and Points for those riders who are eligible for ranking points. All other riders have been ignored for round 13.
I would like Crooch and anyone else who can be arsed to check these final tables so that there is no problems.
If there are any mistakes then LMK and they can be rectified!! :daumenhoch:

North Region Round 7 Results now posted!! :daumenhoch:
-
Nice one molster, climbing the standings :daumenhoch:
-
I've hit my limit as I've raced 6
The only way to add points is to improve on my 7 points (26th) I scored at Preston.
Big942 and R Al should overtake me at Hartlepool if they turn up as their points will get added on (raced less then 6)!!
Sandro and Beard have a chance to overtake me too if they turn up but they are further back!!
Dubber needs to come 1st and JT Smooth needs to come 8th or lower for Dubber to win the series by 2 pts!!
If Dubber comes 2nd then he'll be on 273 pts!!
It should be interesting..................
-

Even if Smoothy doesn't go to Hartlepool, Dubber will still need to win at Hartlepool to win the series!!
I think you need some gate practice at Hartlepool to get the track dialled!! :daumenhoch:
