I really miss the day's of the good old UKBFA comps!! :(
Quatre's at each end of a sports centre with a couple of trick ramps!!
Great atmosphere's, RAD riding!! :)
Bmx has changed so much over the years, but i really miss the good ol' BFA comps!
The UKBFA did Sooo much for the Bmx in the 80's & 90's....
I wanna see a UKBFA COME BACK!!!
How hard would it be? there's more willing venues these days, more willing sponsers!!!
I mean, how many Skateparks are in the UK now!!
A regional, national & International Championships
I think it would be great for the Uk Freestyle scene!! If done right!!

It's time for a UKBFA re-birth!!! :daumenhoch:

Got to disagree to be honest mate!
Some of the comps were ok but some of them were farcical at best.
Poor ramps, disorganised, not long enough time for your run, too many nob heads that tagged on to the top riders and thought they were ten men and as for Peter Hawkins, don't get me started on him.
Lowerstoft, Alfreton and Washington always seemed to be half decent and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Holeshot because it was awesome but that's about it.
One thing I think they should bring back these days though is compulsory tricks in runs, something quite basic as well like a fakie or a one hand one footed air. There's something special about seeing a fairly basic trick [by todays standards] but done with style and flair.
Just my thoughts.

personaly i think they were ok at the time, looking back now they wasnt that great, but was still part of our past, if done now would be much more organised etc :daumenhoch:
-
Dont think I could pedal that far between ramps anymore :D
-
Pure genius.

Well we'd just have to put some beer on top of each ramp for you Dave as an extra incentive! :LolLolLolLol:

sussed ::)
-
Yeahhh, fair enough, i know some of them were poorly organised and the ramps could have been better...
but it would be Soo different if done today!! and it wouldnt mean having to hack across a sports hall to
reach the other ramp! (the swatch halfpipe is still going by the way!)
Would it really be so impossible to organise a new UK Freestyle Association ?
:Great_Britain: U.K.B.F.A. :Great_Britain:
ALL THE WAY!!

Could be the new logo ,, lol ...

Liking the spokes and the coping on the new logo.
-

Can I just say that this kind of attitude is all that is wrong with the 'oldschool reborn riders scene'
For gods sake man its 2008 not 1984!

Jeez, stop taking things so seriously. This is an old school site where we allowed to relive the 80s.
Do you really think we're gonna try and get Roy Winfield and co out of retirement to run some Nationals for us??
-
If it happened we could ban Tailwhips and all the youngsters would be stuffed.

Look, it's just a thread on a bmx forum, an old skool forum... and the bfa is an old skool topic!
i'm not exactly searching through the phone book to find Roy & Dianne W. OR ANY OF THE REST!!! :uglystupid2:
It's not like the ukbfa is going to make a come back so stop panicing...
but it doesnt hurt to theorise... and out of interest, i would like to know what they all did after the bfa??
Oh, and i dont live in the past... i do know its 2008... :idiot2: and my attitude & riding are certainly
not stuck in the past, maybe you should come and have a ride with us sometime, just because we're old skool riders,
it doesnt mean we sit in the corner of skateparks doing front hops and cherry pickers and talking like uncle Albert...
( during the war/ during the bfa )!!!
and the ukbfa lasted long after 1984.. its part of OUR history.. NAY... its part of UK BMX HISTORY!!!! ;):Great_Britain:
Some ppl take life too seriously :-\ ........... i've had enough, im going riding!! :D
-
we know where your coming from dave.
-
just out of interest Steve, we could always get your dad involved.... ;D
-
We could Trev but me thinks you would have to be chairman even if just for your bmx beat knowledge.
