Built from nos parts bar the crank set up. Thanks to Sean (Stidds) for that - been waiting for 400's a long time :daumenhoch:
Just my opinion (probs being fussy) but the paint's a little thin around dropouts and coaster.
-
looks magnificent , excellent bike makes me jealous , what a collectible bike absolutely fabulous

Thanks for the comments guys, tyres are Panaracer HP48's - just got hold of some Panaracer freestyle tyres, will swap them over ;)

Best Ruffell replica yet! The 400's make all the difference.
-
I must ask, why 400`s ?
Neil never joined Skyway untill late 84 and I thought 400`s were the early flights, so wouldn`t it be more likely that Neil would have rode with 401`s ?
-
billy he rode 400's
-
I found this thread, which had a bit of a discussion about this.

Bill might be confusing early 'pinchless' flites with 400's which i'm pretty sure coexisted with 401's.
...as always I may be (probably am) wrong.
...but the spider is a dead giveaway on 400's.
-
I`m still not convinced :police:
When I was signed on to the full factory Skyway team I was given a choice of Redline Flights or Profiles, in fact we got to choose what ever parts we wanted, now why would Neil choose a budget pair of cranks when he could have the real thing ?
TBH the cranks look like they are flites with a profile spider imo ::)
-
...they could even be the unbranded Suginos. We need better scans.
-
I just happen to have a set of minty Sugino 400's if necessary. What about the brakes? Does he have front/left, back/right as it appears in some of the scans?
Simon

that is nice :4_17_5:

The brakes are the correct way round. I switched mine to that way as a kid cos that's how Sir Ruffell had his.
-
Am liking that alot :daumenhoch:
-
Yeah, thats a very nice build!! :daumenhoch: I love the old Street beats!! i miss mine!!

Neil Rode 400's, because with 401's and coaster brake combination the bolt that holds the chain ring to the arm always worked itself loose. He later dropped coaster and just ran freewheel.
-
Niel Used both types of flights, in the kellogs he used 400's but later changed his cranks to 401's and also his bars to chrome and his seat to an orange Kashie Aero.
I have the pics back in the UK
