As theres been no mention about it for a bit i thought I would ask the all important question isd the Old skool race happening at the brits this year at Peterboro. Because if not i need to start thinking about qualifying for the Masters. I suppose i'm lucky that in the Midlands region i only have to do 4 to qualify. So please could Ratty or someone confirm whats happening so we all know.

Hi Chris, I still dont know for sure whats happening. The BCF didnt seem to want to allow a recognized class at the Brits this year. But are open for suggestions re a charity race. Hopefully in aid of Steve Murray :daumenhoch:
When Im feeling a bit better I will talk to Peterborough and BCF to try and sort this out. :daumenhoch:

OMG, Chris B lives! How you doing Chris?
-
the other rumour floating around daggers today was that if you qualified for the brits riding OS you could ride cruiser instead... (or masters etc)
me personally - im not going this year and the brits should be decided at MK08!
-
looks like the BCF are scared that the NS will be utterly outnumbered and embarassed ::)
OS has the biggest turnout most places, so I've heard >:D
My comment to the BCF...get it together, its what the people want...whilst I'm all for charity races, I'd like to be taken seriously as well.
Ray.

I think you'll find we dont actually out number the NS at the bigger races but my understanding is that is not the issue anyway from what I understand is that the BCF want an OS class in all the regions not just the southern before they agree to the OS being recognised properly, talking to Ratty and 796, this is the impression I get, if im wrong please feel free to correct me. :daumenhoch:

It's all well and good asking for inclusion as a recognised class, but.......
How many grumbles over the license fee will we have ::) At £66 for a silver membership and license its not cheap but if the class was to be recognised this would be part and parcel of that.
We would no longer be running the series, the decision making would be largely taken out of the organisers hands and put into BCF's.
We would race a BCF/Regional organised calender, not our own unless members became heavily involved in Regional decision making.....
I don't have an issue with license fees personally as i have to have one for 25+ anyways. I don't see an issue with it being recognised Nationally/Regionally but there will have to be major discussions with BCF re: rules/inclusion etc.
-
Personally I like the fact that the BCF dont control us, I was a bit put out that I paid my money for apparently no reason but im quite happy that I can qualify for the brits riding the OS through the year for another class ie 30-39 cruisers or whatever you want to ride and we still get the charity race for the OS aswell, everyones a winner. :4_17_5:

At the end of the day i think we should all have a license anyway, it provides you with certain levels of insurance which you'd be gutted you didn't have if the worst happened so i see it as a good investment. :daumenhoch:
-
From that point of view it's actually a good investment.
-
I hope they put old school on at the Brits whether it's an official class or just a charity race again. It was good last year. I'd probably have a go as well as 40+ cruiser.

I've left a message for Roger at BCF to give us a call so hopefully we can get this clarified asap for everyone :daumenhoch:

We have spoken to Roger, he is going to ask the bmx commision about a charity race for the OS. He seems very supportive so fingers crossed :daumenhoch:

It will be a charity race, and entry will be pre registeration on here or talk. But no qualification will be needed :daumenhoch:

So as it's the last round of the OSSS how is it going to work with the points for us. Are we just going to pretend that everyone else is not in the race, for example if I won and Paul comes in 4th are we going to giv him 2nd for the osss?
-
Just spoke to Roger at BCF and IT'S ON :daumenhoch:
I'm going to put a new post up asap where entries will be collated :daumenhoch:
