Title: WEST DEVON WARRIORS BMX CLUB
Post by: generallee on October 27, 2008, 05:36 PM
Hi there - wanted to let you all know that I have initiated the re-birth of West Devon Warriors BMX club - based in Tavistock in Devon. The club was a great bmx xlub in the 80s and 90s... we are now talking with Council bosses about getting our track built and are really excited to resurrect this great old club.
Just wanted to let you know!
steve

Well done Steve, good to hear about another track and club coming back from the ashes. Have you got in touch with your area British Cycling representative, they are very useful for applying pressure to local councils. The London guy does great work tracking down funding for the local clubs. Regards Marc

That's great news, as long as you can get sun for each race. I remember some right experiences there in Club meetings midweek, Open meetings and Regionals too.

Do you plan the same location?? Lovely on a summer evening but not too good for access and kids turning up and riding.

Thought you might like to see some photos of my family with some of the West Devon legends. What did ever happen to Nadine Blayney? Great girl! Know her brother plays/ed football at good level.

awesome pics man!
We ra eploghing ahead with a whole new venue for a national standard track in Tavistock town itself - the old track is too short to be an official track now ! And also too far out of the town like you say for kids to ride too. We have over 70 people ready to join up... and a council who are backing the project - will keep you posted!!!

Any updates please??

You say the last straight, what about the two flat corners before them?? Always a cliff hanger going into them, 1 if you get passed, 2 if you loose grip. The 'berm' area was about 4 metres from where it should have been.
