Why is it always old school or cruiser?

Why not new school 20"?

Is it because the existing competition is too young / too fast?

Are we missing a novice class for 20"?

I could do with understanding here as I am new to the game.  I was told the only class for 20" old guys was masters which is 25+ (too young too fast?) but don't know if this is true as other answers when I have eluded to this in the past have conflicted slightly.

By asking this questions does not mean I don't like old school or the idea of cruisers.  I'm just trying to work out why people ruule 20" out.

Then Madd Dogg can race all three!!!  Just think of all the bikes you can have Russ.  ;D

gota agree with the post above why has everyone chosen cruiser ? i would prefer doing new skool 20 but would be jonny no mates and know no one  :-[
im presuming everyone is taller and heavier now and cruiser suits them better ? im still 5 foot nothing so cruiser might be a bit big for me  :LolLolLolLol:

For me Cruiser was the only way to go ....... Being 6'4" not many 20" bikes fit .

The ones that do fit ( Martin Parker's Staats is loverly ) feel very twitchy with me on em.

For comfort and size Cruiser suits me down to the ground.

Dex in the north west during the winter you can mix 20" with cruiser class , I rode the 30-39 class last winter on my 20". So basically if you want to ride new school 20 " you can do . You dont have to race Payback , problem solved. :)

Dex, I think Masters is 30+. I have got a new school cruiser just because I bought it to tootle round the track on with my daughter and I was thinking of maybe racing in 30-39 cruisers on it but I must admit I don't really like riding it that much, it just feels a little too safe. I would rather a bike be a bit 'twitchy' so I wouldn't mind a new school 20".

When we ran the OSS in the south, the only 2 rules we had were 1" headset and old style brakes, no mention of wheelsize ever came into it...............although I cant recall anyone ever asking, I reckon you would be at a serious dis-advantage on an OS cruiser though. :D

I have raced a 24" in the old school class, I found no advantage. On the gate, the thing was more twisty, than a twisty thing at a twisty party round at Ade's place.
