Just back from the Euro rounds at Cheddar and all I can say is that the Oldschool class at the Brits should be "Interesting" to say the least. Here's a couple of pics I took of the two big doubles on the third straight. Who's gonna be the first to jump them on a proper oldschool bike? >:D

The first of the big doubles feels good to manual through, or you should be able to roll through at a reasonable speed on an oldschool bike. The second big double has a steeper face and it kicks you up in the air, whatever speed you're doing. The only way to not get air is to do a pickup manual (Bloomy style), which is probably beyond most oldschoolers. The whole track isn't tarmac, it was just very well manicured that weekend. Definately a track which favours the brave though.
You can see some videos of the weekend's action on http://www.bmx-videos.com/ and check out how other riders were tackling the course. Not everyone felt it necessary to jump everything, and some showed you could manual or pump through faster with the right technique.

Have a look at the BMX Videos site to see the elite men clear the 3rd straight dubs - awesome. The good news is that not many of the 30+ (20" & Cruiser) if any jumped them - nice track tho; like a well-manicured Preston - ie not much fun for the OS - unless you take your mortgage/wife/kids head off and go fur it!!

Bloomy style = wot Marcus Bloomfield does. He starts manualling before actually hitting the face of the jump. It helps keep the back wheel planted over the jump. If you just keep both wheels rolling up the face of those big doubles and hope to just drop you back wheel down, then you'll find you're already airborne. A great set-up down at Cheddar, excellent facilities. The Brits should be great.

They have camping facilities on reasonable sized pitches, an Old School piss up in the bar Saturday night could be a plan :daumenhoch:
