Just got back from the worlds - The Haro display was awesome - one of the highlights for definite and they showed how to entertain the crowd (along with Mark Webb dressing up as a super hero).
Campbells stack looked super harsh and seeing it on the vid again makes me wince just a much as I did first time round!!! I can't believe he was OK and went on to DJ at the party that night for a couple of hours!!! Nutter.

We also meet Bob Haro, Ron, Mike, Dave, Brian, Mat Hoffman, Xavier, Stephan & really great to finally meet John Buultjens

will someone post some piccies please??
-
Fookin Awesome that's all I can say.
Nice to hear that the N/S kids also stopped to watch I was wondering how they would see it, I'm glad some of them at least wanted to see what started their lifestyle
and who better to show them than Mr Wilkerson :idiot2:, Mr Blyther :police:, Mr Nourie 8) and God himself Mr Bob Haro  with Kevin Martin on the pa.
Maybe some of the N/S kids will put style & fun back into riding after seeing this, afterall that's what it's all about right ? :LolLolLolLol:
I don't know how many times I've watched this today but I can't wipe the smile off my face, this is better than ........

2 questions......
Did anyone ask him what he thought of the 2009 rep Gen 1 (dissapointing)?
Did bob ride?

Me, Chris and Dom all got a mention and i still can't take in how involved we ended up getting with the whole event. To be honest i didn't know what to expect from the whole thing, It all came together over a few emails with Xavier Mendez, a good friend of Mikes, he basically asked me if he could loan a bike to Mike, then i mentioned we could bring a few bikes to display, next thing i know, The whole Display is going over that me,Chris and Dom done at MK last year, but the end result was amazing, Our display became a base for Rons,Dave's,Brian's and Mike's bike and we ended up rebuilding half of Ron's bike and helping out Dave with a seat for his master (straight out of Dom's spare parts box ).Then we had the guys come over a few times and masses of people follow,so the Display become packed with people wanting autographs. We had the like of Craig Campbell looking around, Mat Hoffman, and of course Bob Haro and the other guys (display team) spent alot of time looking and hanging around. Ended up spending alot of time talking to mike, just sitting around looking through old Freestylin mags and others ,talking about the bikes and working on his bike i done ,making a few adjustments, Mike only used it for riding in though as after a bit practice felt he was more comftable on Brian's bike as it had newschool bars and tyres that he was used too now and he didn't have much time on the replica to practice on those Knobblies,Lol.Everyone i have mentioned were so cool ,really nice people and they all seemed blown away with the set up, Dave Nourie said" I need to get a factory ride with you guys now"...LOL
We had people come up to us from all over the world thanking us for bringing the Display to Germany, they hadn't seen anything like it.
Then there was the demo, using Doms Van for the guys to come out, and then running around sorting Rons puncture at the beginning of the display, then Craig knacked Brians bike, and Dave's coaster bolt fell out,so to be honest i ended up missing parts of the display, but hell it was exciting to be so involved....and as Pete says, the whole thing was emotional and i can't tell you what it felt to watch those guys ride...Unfookingbelievable.

No and No,(not that i know of) Bob sat on Chris's replica, and to be honest trying to speak with Bob was hard as every time to started ,someone was there wanting autographs, but Dom got a bit more info from him on the future of Bob Haro .
-

where have i been, just read this thread and a million memories came flooding back absolutley amazing
Haro where we would be withoout you? a billion dreams created over the last 30 years, would it ever have happened without you....i doubt it!! millions of riders indebted.
Mike D for me still the man absolutley superb what a rider.
I love the stacks, but I admire more that the boys just carried on getting on to do the things they used to love and we used to love watching.
CC what the fook man. Get a bike...if you can air like that after not even toucing pedals for so long then you still got a lot of fun to have and pleasure to give.
One of the best things i have seen in a long time and every BMXer should salute these pioneers....i dont say this lightly but... Respect!!!!
-
100% agree mate ' R E S P E C T ' to the pioneers of our lifestyle.
Steve.
-
tears to my eyes.
-
tears to my eyes.
Looking at the various videos of the display I think it`s fair to say that you were very enthusiastic about the whole thing, you mentalist :LolLolLolLol:
-
shared the shuttle journey with Nourie & his wife, bought drinks for my hero's Dominguez & Blyther, got confused listening to Ron & had a good hour or so chat with Bob..... couldnt have been happier Bill. Totally stoked......... & I guess the Jack n Coke in a can added to my mood?! :LolLolLolLol:
Shame you couldnt have rode too mate.... maybe next year....?
-
dj, awesome mc job!!!!
-
really? i dont think i was so on point this year... sounding a bit like a fcukin boxing aaaaaannoooooouncerrrrrrrr if you get my point? need to nip that in the bud!!!
Anyway, thanks for the compliment. Its always good to assist my head growth. :daumenhoch:
that said, even with the rain delays & everything else it was still an amazing weekend thats for sure...
You guys gonna bid on the first haro sweater for Murray or what?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=270427914997&Category=56197&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2
-
you beat catfish hands down dood!
-
Stop it..... ::)
-
Awesome.... much better than T in the Park! (Where I was for the weekend...) :LolLolLolLol:
Brought back memories of when I saw them ride at Poole BFA comp in 1986.
Ron still got the bottle, Nourie still got it on the flat and Brian still smooth on the ramps - brilliant stuff.
Anyone know what bars Nourie was riding?
Well done all involved..
G :daumenhoch:
-
Yes he did tell me what bars they were :-\ But I can't remember :-[
They were from 91 though & I think he said they were Standard ???
He was going into great detail about the Bars & the seat & how he has to set them just right for certain tricks as the bars are a little bent.
-
Standard Strip bars I believe... I should know, I shared a shuttle journey with him BTW AND put his bike out for him to walk straight into a Gumby... Just incase anyone missed that? :LolLolLolLol:
-
well Ron pointed at ME as he started his pedalpicker drop-in.. because i shouted it so loud. and, and, and, and.. hahahaha
in case you didn;t know, the judges "office" was full of old men pointscoring about meeting older men at certain points...
-
MIAMI!!!! Roooooooooooon!!!!??? MI-AM-I!!!!! Haha, great day!
-
dj, awesome mc job!!!!
gotta agree DJ did make me chortle a few times
-
well, if i can make men "chortle" I MUST be good! ;)
-
a bit of a grump, but perhaps you could tone down the filthy language on the mic?
jokes aside, any massive corporate sponsors or people who've poured money into the event wouldn't be impressed by you calling the crowd 'c**ts'.
catfish manages to announce without swearing.
-
Agreed Gordon. Like I said, I wasn't very happy with my performance over the weekend to be honest.
I think all the rain delays etc etc really kill the enthuisiasm & it's hard to motivate from that (even though that's my job!)
as for the swearing I do actually agree... This is the ONLY event it's not an issue (well, it's never been mentioned in the 5yrs I've done it) so I guess I'm like "woooo C**t, f**k, s**t, c**t c**t!" even though I don't remember calling the crowd c**ts to be honest?
I did think to myself a few times "f**k sake ease up swearing!" but clearly didn't take notice of my own self!
If you promise to come next year Goags I'll be on my best behaviour?
one day when I get smaller I'll be more like catfish
-

Nothing to do with Haro Demo but if you look at picture of naked rider in a earlier post, somebody would like to see that vid and have a good laff. The dirt riding comp is also at The Worlds 2009.
Still, the vid of the Haro Demo is also cool too ! :4_17_5:
It nice to see Dom, Bob and the other old school riders !
Cheers ! :daumenhoch:
-
Nice to see Nick is back !
-
just watched this vid again. I can't stop watching that air over 540. That really is the nuts. on old school wobbly bikes by guys in the 40's. Unbelieveable. :4_17_5:
