You might be better off sticking with the Old School- Masters only attracted 2 or 3 riders at best in the Summer Series, apart from the NE round where people were trying to bag points for the club champs!
Preston's even better for the OS now the third straight has been changed- out with the 'twin peaks' and in with a long step up into 'the volcano' double (that Diggler was jumping on sunday!) into a series of five speed bumps rhythm section. You'll love it....

This Tuesday is the last Night Gates. They might have another next week but they will see how early it gets dark. Last Tuesday it was around 7:30. :(

went to yeadon sunday and came off trying to jump the step up .me jump lol should have known better
anyways got some gravel rash and hurt my shoulder and top of my leg hurt.got up this morning and can barely move my arm and my leg is well bruised and proper sore .
i keep telling people practicing s no good just gets ya injured beore a race lol

I think I've got a black 8 and 5 but not Haro though. They are Landar (if you remember them), NOS, but are a bit smaller than Haro numbers (about 4"). If you want 'em I can go and dig 'em out and they are yours.

Another BIG turnout for Preston, the track was minty and as usual well organised. I had fun as I always do, 1, 2 and 3 in the Owd Skool were well deserved and a reflection of the days performances from all 3 riders,

Is today's gate practice procedure how it is to be now? I found it a bit of a bummer that the track was shut to everyone not doing gates and those that did were called up like in moto's, which seemed to take ages, I am not the only one who felt like that either, its great to practice gates but for me personally, I would have preferred to warm up and climatise to the track in my own way. Not a critisism or a dampner either, just an observation and an opinion :daumenhoch:

Not sure what happened in the semis when myself and Chewy locked bars, I think there were 4 of us going for the same spot - hope your ok Chris. I have a huge bruise and some gravel rash on my left leg/arse cheek. Nice.

Just checked out the excellent footage of the finals and cant split andyrooski and myself on the line. At first it looks like he easily has it, but after pausing it and watching it a couple of times, my late charge for the line has us neck and neck!!!! :shocked:

Having looked I think Andy got to the front edge of the finish line first, by the time your both on the line your level. Tough call mind.

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved the result, but I can't complain gettting into the B final :coolsmiley:There were four people doing the finish line that day and I was the finish judge. As the riders cross the line the four people record their opinion of the result independently and then cross-check to see if there is any difference of opinion. My job as finish judge was not to stand on the line, but look down the last straight to see if anyone directly impedes another rider ( you've got to hold your line on the last straight).
Moving on................does seem abit daft not having a line judge ???

Three of the line judges were long standing North Region committee members, and have been doing this job for donkeys. I'm not saying anybody is infallible, or mistakes aren't made, but if you have a disagreement with the judges, then you should put an appeal in on the day. I know results aren't published til later, but if you are unsure where you came, you should go back and ask the line judges- a lot of people do. Up until last year, even Nationals were recorded visually, so I wouldn't expect a camera on the line at Regionals for some time!

Quite right Jamie, although JD_76 should have been DQ'd for telling me to stop because I had a cute fluffy bunny rabbit caught in my rear wheel. By time I realised he was lying he had passed me down the final straight. I dont mind a bit of craic while racing but to use such underhand tactics to gain an advantage is surely outside of the rules!! :(

Ive not seen that before, at the Bob Fields grands in crewe they kept it open so people could practice if they needed to.
Is this common practice with all tracks to close the track when its not being raced on?
No worries nhoj, I was just trying to explain it 'by the book', so I was aware of coming across a bit 'official' as well. BMX racing at regional level is a bit spit and sawdust and like I say, sometimes mistakes are made.
I should really have refererred you to Rule 124, Clause 15, Sub-section II of the North Region rulebook;
' If a rider/riders do not agree with the line judge as to their position in the race, they will be referred onto the Riders Representative (in this case Bof), who will inform them to get a fricking grip and do one. The dispute must then be settled between the riders by means of a slanging match ;where the first rider to comment on the other rider's wife's dignity will be deemed the winner. If a clear winner cannot be identified at this stage, then a fist-fight will be arranged in the car park. The rider who then makes out like a gypo on PCP will be awarded the position.'

Its an event with Marshalls and Ambulance crew etc, etc. Everyone needs a break and time for something to eat/drink and to use the bog!!
Probably down to insurance too!!

I just thought the Hartlepool reason was to sweep the loose mud off the berms ;)
